Just because they give you a C compiler and a library to link doesn't mean you blame the compiler developer for letting the user shoot himself in the foot.

It almost always programmer error to use defaults mode for NSURLConnection, especially on Mac where they are more runloop modes used by the platform that are not inclusive of defaults mode, unless the user has a very specific reason. File I

This isn't really correct. Runloops have modes. Often networking happens in a mode that is not restricted (see NSRunLoopCommonModes here https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/cocoa/..

I had this bug once about 10ish years ago when I was still a windows dev. Creating a 2nd window on a thread with a window already but then pumping it's main loop on a background thread can cause this. If you do that the loops get hooke

Drivers, scheduler, and missing things I could get from things like procfs in Linux that doesn't have an equivalent. I have a had a few issues with GL on QNX as well. It's pretty amazing but not nearly as rigorously tested.

What annoys me is that the BB10 OS is pretty damn awesome. I would even venture to say that it's even better for developers than Google's Android platform for being able to get code running from existing code bases. It may not be

Unlikely. iOS7 and 10.9 use TextKit which wraps CoreText and in turn they have dramatically enhanced CoreText in the process. The code is unlikely to be compatible. It will likely require a patch for the older code.

So we have a better NDK than Googles at Apportable. We use our own malloc and better C++ runtime (libc++ instead of libstdc++) and use Clang 3.4 instead of GCC. One problem with your tests is that you are using the system malloc, and that i

Trampolines do this. A good example is that this happens in objective-c all the time when you get a block imp. The closure from the block is wrapped into a new trampoline so the you can use the block as any normal imp but with the closures

I wasn't referring to the IO bound side of it but the general work involved with everyday generic work that was not something that a GPU can do very well. It's silly to say the answer to doing parallel is to throw it on the GPU. B

No one said you can't be parallel in python. The problem is that you can't use simple threads and must resort to separate processes, shared memory, and IPC to shard out your work that way. CCP uses twisted which manages to help yo
