So what does exist? Oppression and power? And we should trust the people who believe that to fix the imbalances?

He was prevented from talking at a conference because other speakers found his political opinions insufficiently woke. That does not bother you?

There is nothing in what you posted that makes Bob Martin a sexist. He should attack, no one should kowtow to this self righteous mob. Its only cowardliness that is giving these people power.

Isn't it tragic that that stands out as objectionable?

What? His remark regarding racial bias is reasonable and should not be grounds for barring from talking about programming in any sane, free society. We are going insane here. This isn't going to work, there is going to be a huge back

Could you be specific? I am having a hard time connecting his dislike for SJWs to any danger of COC violations. This all just seems political intolerance to me.

That excuse just does not work. Who are these fragile people who would be destroyed by Bob Martin's thoughts on programming? And why are they more important than all the other people who would want to listen to a guy that has been succ

There was a bloomberg piece that looked at uhaul data and showed there is a net migration to Texas, florida, vermont, idaho from NY and CA. Something is happening for sure.

Would they really? How many of these people do you think would be happy to open their homes, or at least their neighborhoods, to a substantial number of poor, unskilled, uneducated and culturally alien people? The world would work a lot bet

I disagree, I do think its a good example. Immigration has its pros and cons and smart policies can boost the pros and lessen the cons. Its very clear that immigrants can bring enormous value but its also clear that they can lower the wages

An example would be attitudes towards immigration. The people arguing for taking in more poor immigrants or refugees typically do not live in the communities most impacted by their influx.

To be clear, what I am referring to are people who would want someone other than themselves to be more generous to someone other than themselves . This a very common pathology in well-off, educated people. You get the virtue points witho

right, I understand that, and I accept that currently cash is trash and bonds are little better. But it is very unsettling to think that there is so little tethering non-dividend paying stocks to any sort of value.

Why do you believe that? Isn't it possible that in high crime areas it would make more sense to focus on the police first, so that everybody, including school counselors, is not too afraid to go to work?
