The Watchmen, about Kevin Poulsen, is a great read, especially when he wins a red Porsche 944 (a car I've been intending to buy just because of this book).

It's just that it's SpaceX's 2nd successful launch, and nearly as important as the 1st last year. It's just recent news.

No hard numbers, it's just that I barely got a Sinclair Spectrum emulator to run on a 10MHZ 286. A Spectrum is about 3 MHZ. I got an Atari ST (8MHZ 68000) emulator to just about run on an old 60MHZ (or so) 486. But it's possible I was getti

If that's so, my skills at setting up lighting, choosing angles, and editing, learned on a A-level equivalent Media Studies course, would be more useful than my entire Software Development degree!

Wow, Wolfe writes like a God. Not a dull sentence (I read Bonfire of the Vanities and it was like stepping into another world).

There's an old Sinclair Spectrum game called 1994 - ten years after. I don't think it has much to do with the novel 1984 though. http://www.mobygames.com/game/zx-spectrum/1994-ten-years-aft...

Thanks, I stand corrected! The overall point is that people with autism can perform well on technological tasks, and if that's taken advantage of, then great!

But as these companies stop growing, the stock options are worthless, and people jump ship to the next Google where their stock will go skyhigh.

As for Google, Autonomy had Kenjin. I think in the UK people are just after a career, and I know people who wouldn't work on a speculative software project without applying for grants (eg, free money). The other problem is that VC's will pr

Amazon OWNS Lovefilm, the most popular DVD rental site in the UK. I use Lovefilm, because it aggregates to about £1.25 per DVD over a month, and that's damn good.

This quote: "we have the same goals. We’re trying to get information out there " I don't think book companies are all about getting out information at all. Some even press limited amounts of a book.

My general calculation on YouTube is this: -At Google Search, you do a search and get a text ad. Each text ad is about 400 bytes, each search page (with your results) is around 5k. Serving up the webpage is done from another site. -At Googl
