That creates a event handler for all images on mouseover, even images that haven't been created yet. You want to trigger the mouseover event, not bind to it. And you want to trigger it after the image has been inserted. Unfortunately there'

Linus is a dick. Theo is a dick. No argument from anyone there. That's the Linux kernel though, and I would argue that has the same problem of scaring off potential devs. It's the wider community I'm talking about. Mailing lists, forums, et

Part of the reason Linux has such a huge number of devs is because the community is welcoming and forgiving of noobs. OpenBSD was my first unix, and as much as I tried to contribute, I didn't last through their toxic developer community lon

Assisted routing would be way more useful (and probably easier to implement) than autorouting. Also, it would be great to have a versioning system that could pull together the good bits from different attempts at routing.

The major reason I'm excited about this shift is the potential for higher scalability out of the box. Instead of rendering pages, the server is just for static pages and data. Instead of using a central server to render for each user, it's

From a couple months ago, their estimated revenues for 2011 are $1.8 billion [1]. This is a completely different beast to linked in. I'm very interested in seeing how it goes. [1] http://blogs.forbes.com/afontevecchia/2011/03/02/zynga-reve

Doesn't look like they've put together an official changelog yet, but the major changes off the top of my head would be jQuery, Coffeescript, sass, sprockets, css sprites, flushing & deprecation of rails 2 finders.

Even when eligible for a visa waiver, the process sucks. You have to register with the ESTA 72 hours before flying. You have to leave North America within 3 months, so if you're transitting to Canada or Mexico, you have to get an actual vis

Then that's what the article should say, instead of hating on the hashbang syntax, which is currently the best solution to the problem. I also don't see why these web pages (specifically twitter) shouldn't be an ajax application - I think l

I'm curious what the other solutions are then. The only one I can think of is the History.pushState, and that's only supported in newer browsers. Let's say I'm writing a web based word processor, and a user clicks on a document. I want the

I think people are missing a huge benefit of the hashbang syntax: readable and copy/paste-able URLs. Without them, it's impossible to have an ajax application with a decent URL scheme.

Disown is actually implemented by bash (or your shell of choice). From my understanding, it just stops the HUP propagating down to that child. There might be a more shell-agnostic way to assign the parent process id too.
