For me, Telegram's small user base is actually what got me on it. My whatsapp is full of way too many groups that I can't leave without negative social consequences. So the one group that I cared about the most (a group with my si

The copy on this page is super unclear. I just realized(after signing up) that the subscription is to get the special $2/ride pricing, not the actual ride. Put another way: after you have the $30/month subscription, you can get

I think the idea of having a powerful scripting language based on JS is a godsend in many ways. But like you, I also feel that async is a bad default for a language that has such widespread use. I love being able to use one syntax to write

So working for uber is just like obesity? Got it! Ironically, OP is the one arguing as if he is 100% aware of job of driving an uber and his awareness leads him to argue that it is categorically bad. More realistically, it is good for some,

Isn't that just kicking the can down the road? Wouldn't the government be better served revising the plan to take new innovation into account than instituting a tax purely to slow down innovation?

Citation needed. If you were right, you wouldn't have employed baristas etc. quitting their jobs to drive uber. To make your claim without acknowledging well-established upside of not being employed by Uber is disingenuous at best. Man

A lot more poor people have a computer today than ever before. Nothing illustrates this better than seeing the homeless on their iPhones using the Starbucks wifi to access the Internet.

If true, then what is a competing JS DOM renderer with same or nearly same DOM rendering speed? Closest I've found is Vue but it was still 20-30% slower than React, according to the DOM speed test on a benchmarking site.

Is misleading speech for commercial gain protected speech? If it is, then I can sell you a fake Rolex while stating that it is a real Rolex. Because my speech is protected, I can mislead and profit without consequences.

Also, someone like Bret is very unlikely to be attracted by purely monetary gain like a $20/mil year salary(or even $50/mil year.) He probably cares as much, if not more, in being able to achieve some larger goal--which requires b

This is an acquisition to get Bret Taylor. I'd expect Salesforce to put him in charge of slowly improving the core salesforce tech stack.

How do you reach the conclusion that it is not R&D that will benefit Alphabet? They make it pretty clear it is a high risk high reward R&D, meaning if they hit pay dirt, it can be massively profitable for Alphabet.

"Moonshot" is the Google term for R&D. Google's R&D budget in 2014 wasn't even in the top 5: http://www.neowin.net/images/uploaded/2014/12/screen_shot_20... Problem for Google

History is going to look back at CSS in disbelief when it calculates the amount of engineering time was spent trying to position elements correctly. This isn't hating on CSS as much as how broken layout creation is with no end in sight
