There's a link in the blog to another source saying he found it in a field that turned out to be an archeological site. A modern collector didn't lose it. https://greekreporter.com/2026/04/16/ancient

I get making it a superset of v4, but what's up with the oauth stuff?

It's been a while, but what struck me about Wordpress plugins is how many have almost no value add over the "manual" way, even ignoring the security aspect. Like wrappers around Stripe.

Usually the argument against frameworks is that modularity will cover differing use cases better, unlike a framework that becomes hard the moment you need to do something they didn't design for. I've been ok without frameworks, bu

I meant you mv into old before it gets too big. I've never actually seen a dir get slow like this. Only seen that with programmatic things like making 1M json files.

If it's just performance, cd ~/Documents && mkdir old && mv ./* old/ (or today's date instead of old). I actually have that layout on one PC. If real organization is needed, seems like that'd be

The original one does run a modified OS X Tiger. I jailbroke it a while ago to run custom stuff, but didn't do much with that. Just remember being able to VNC or SSH into it.

On the other hand, I get why cloud drive users completely disregard file structure and search everything. Two files usually don't have the same name unless you're laying it out programmatically like this. I use dir trees for code

Yeah they respond. `ping mdns.mcast.net`, shows responses from ip addresses I recognize on my LAN, `arp -a`, still no hostnames. Tried all the other suggestions online too. Tried on my Mac and Rpi, same network, just a single ethernet LAN.

Also even obfuscated JS code is easier to understand than machine code, if you're trying to tell what some non-open-source thing is doing

That's typical. I think it's mainly familiarity, which in turn comes from PWAs missing basic capabilities in the past or present so everyone made apps instead. Push notifications in PWAs is a recent thing. PWAs don't share co

Exactly. The only app-specific abuse I can think of is apps that wake in the background (Apple said this isn't the case, but it is), Android where apps get push by default, or apps that just hope the user will grant broad permissions t

Besides users being more familiar with apps in the past, PWAs are still kneecapped in some subtle ways to make them want apps. I wish PWAs were the norm, so much easier.

Ever since my phone's wifi broke and I'm on 1 bar LTE at home, I've been using HN more. The site even looks good and modern imo.

I don't usually see this because it seems to require intentional design to work on mobile. The original post has an example that doesn't lay out well on mobile, or just a very tall and thin desktop window.

At least in 2014-2016, every important website you'd use as a student at Berkeley was old style. Starting with Telebears.

Blockbuster did start offering mail in DVD rental subscriptions just like Netflix, in fact it was better because you could return it to a nearby store if you didn't want to wait for mail. But it was too late. (This was even before stre

This sounds possibly better. Aligns the interest of the website more with the users. Ads are a weird game. People say you're ripping off the website if you adblock, but aren't you ripping off the advertiser if you don't buy t

I used to have it enabled long ago. It's insecure. Random cheap devices will open up ports with upnp without the user noticing. It doesn't work that well either, cause hosts will conflict on ports. P2P applications have better way
