I find this alias really useful for accomplishing similar goals: alias gqc="git commit -m 'quick commit'" The command is usually preceded by "git add ." (or alias "ga."). Making a commit ends up being more reliable for me than stash. Also,

"... having a company parking lot is discrimination against people who don't have cars ..." Interesting comparison. It's not unusual for companies to offer a cash alternative for employees who don't use the company parking lot. Maybe child

Tried it out by sending an email to myself (from webmail) and opening the mail in Mail.app. Mail.app doesn't crash, but if you hit reply to the message and put the cursor on the "File:///" part, it does crash.

I look forward to all the interesting morality discussions that come up as a result of this. I know a lot of intelligent people who go out of their way (even when it's less convenient) to purchase books, music, and movies rather than pirate

I love the concept. One important part that should be added though (I couldn't tell from the website if they already do something like this): When using it to share your personal internet connection, guest wifi connections should have all t

Awesome project. I'd love to see/make something like this in emacs/magit. There's so many times when I find myself needing to just quickly browse through the changes in a single file.

I'm a big fan of sparkling water (talking rain, perrier, etc). Glad to see it's a trend that's picking up in a lot of office refrigerators.

The mac app store version of evernote lost the ability, but if you have the version downloaded from their site it should be in the PDF dropdown menu of the OS X print dialog (also useful to disable Chrome's print dialog, which adds one more

I use it as my virtual printer. Every online receipt or payment confirmation, flight details, etc gets inserted into evernote via OS X's "Save PDF to Evernote" link in the print dialog. I hardly ever look at the stuff, but it's nice to have

Interesting, I wonder how this compares to what Ezra's working on. He mentioned a git-based community site for 3D models that incorporated visual diffs at RailsConf 2012: http://confreaks.com/videos/911-railsconf2012-what-a-long-st...

Interesting... If we ignore the zeros and the 20/35/ba, it looks very much like the 7 digit short identifier of a git sha1. Maybe it's just announcing a continuous deploy script saying that a particular build made it to prod/staging?

It'd be nicer if Outlook.com acted as an Exchange client (not just an Exchange ActiveSync server). From the post, it looks like they're recommending people forward their email to a new @live.com email address. Bleh.

Not as dramatic, but I've fallen victim to that before. I was driving back late one night from Boulder to Denver and wanted to get to an address on Market St. I was tired, not very familiar with the area, and didn't realize at the time that

Side note: Have there been any studies (or even informal accounts) on people that hold their arms up a lot (e.g. puppeteers)? Do they still get tired arms easily, or have they gotten so used to it that they can do a day of work without thei

This is the sort of thing I was thinking of when reading the Kill Hollywood RFS ( http://ycombinator.com/rfs9.html ). Who says you need a huge budget to bring a great science fiction story to life? Who says you have to dumb down the story t

There's a lot of upcoming uses of technology and law enforcement that concern me (crowd control, non-lethal weapons, drones, cctv, etc). However, on first glance, this one seems great. I could see an algorithm come up with a lot of interest

Let's play around a bit with this mentality: Google: man up and build your own database of everything. Stop indexing our data when we already offer our own search mechanism. I get that everybody wants to build ajax web apps and ios apps and
