FFS how many different implementations of quicksort in Python can there possibly be? How would they expect you to make yours unique? Different variable names or something? I'll never understand the concept of plagiarizing long-establis

I have a MBP for work and a Thinkpad for personal use. Thinkpad wins, hands down.

If you're buying equities and leaving them alone for decades, sure. But if you're retired and depending on your investments for an income, being 85% in equities is insane. One prolonged bear market could wipe you out.

85% in equities during retirement is a bad idea.

I'm talking about a fixed income, like bond dividends, annuities, etc. It doesn't adjust for inflation; that's a separate problem. Just saying that if you can get a 4% return on 2.5MM, which is on the high side of realistic,

Assuming a 4% return, 2.5MM absolutely does yield 100k per year, forever. Yes inflation will eat away at the value of that 100k over time, but that's less of a problem if you own your home and have something left over each year to rein

So... sell your expensive shit and buy less expensive shit. That's what us plebs are expected to do. No one's locked into anything.

Don't think of it as a large nest egg; think of it as a modest fixed income. You can easily make 2.5MM last for the rest of your life if you're able to live on 100k. That might require downsizing a bit and moving somewhere with a

My wife and I are equally capable of both taking care of and teaching our child. Breast feeding is a pretty small part of it, and it only lasts for a year or so. Are you a parent?

Places with low real estate costs tend to have fewer and lower-paying jobs. Part of me would love to move back to KY where I'm from, but where would I work? That's the reason I left in the first place, no good jobs.

I always tip 20% for anything better than terrible service. Because I won't be arsed with evaluating whether my server was "good" or "great" or "truly outstanding" or whatever. It's table service. I s

Nah, once you've got 8MM in the bank there's no point worrying about maximizing returns. You've already won. Keep it simple, pay off the house, enjoy life.

That's not something you should ask someone in a job interview though. And most people (mercifully) don't talk about politics at work. So what would promoting political diversity look like?

That seems like an overly expansive definition to me. If everything is technology, then the word "technology" ceases to have meaning, no? How exactly is speech technology? Or stories? I get that invented modes of sharing stories

Prices are set to maximize revenue. Most companies aren't going to lower prices just because they can afford to; cost savings should (and usually do) go to shareholders.

At least with Amazon Music you can download DRM-free mp3s and back them up somewhere. Can't do that with Amazon Video, which is why I just rent those.

Inflation provides an incentive to not hoard cash. As long as it's under control, it's not a bad thing.

Inflation happens anyway. Unless wages rise faster than inflation, you can't really argue they drive it.
