Hmm... his wife worked at TI as an engineer IIRC. So it's a tenuous, unlikely, made-for-tv kind of possibility indeed. It's gotten me interested in circuit bending again, however.

This is a very weird and specific question I know, but I figured I'd ask anyway because you seem to have experience with this chip. In 'Halt and Catch Fire,'[0] one of the characters loads his children's names onto a Spe

Thanks, I'm looking into building some of these for family members who can't read as well any more. These are some great resources to read!

From a Feb. 2014 Apple Security whitepaper[0]: "The passcode is “tangled” with the device’s UID, so brute-force attempts must be per-formed on the device under attack. A large iteration count is used to make each attempt slower. The it

I really enjoyed reading Papillon, as well as seeing the film. Does anyone have recommendations for good fiction / memoirs about modern prisons?

When I say smart, I mean purely from a cold, heartless, moneymaking perspective. I would not start this business because I agree with you in many cases.

This is smart. Cellular jamming is mega-illegal in the US (even in prisons![0]), and when I first read through this article I missed part of the first paragraph and couldn't understand how this product could be sold. However, the idea

That's why there are research ethics boards - I'd be surprised if this cleared one. I can say from very similar experiences that kind of activity can damage trust and destroy relationships with people.

Yes, the 3D gimmick is arguably a bad move (I don't know enough about consumer statistics to comment). But my point is the goal of Amazon is to sell media/software and everything about the phone is designed for that. The goal of M

Amazon has no interest in selling cell phones, they want to surface their conglomerate services to consumers through cell phones. Fire COULDN'T have been this phone, it would just be an AmazonBasics style anonymous product to them.

The RPG idea is, in fact, part of a very dense space. However, I think Tabletop Simulator[0] is an interesting approach that comes at the problem from a very different angle: just simulate a table with physics. Adding the support systems ar

If this is true, that's going to kill their business in the paranoid post-gox btc community. Most will probably wait until a competing service with a smidgen more reputability shows up in about 2 days.
