How is composition inconvenient?

Why on earth do you put composition and OOP as opposing techniques? Composition is just one more technique in the OOP toolbox and there is nothing in OOP that mandates an inheritance based architecture.

Problem is when the dictator is wrong and chose not to address it. Then it doesn't get done. That is not very efficient.

Yeah, that is old enough that those issues may not have been fixed yet. If you have a high poll rate mouse I'd strongly advise upgrading.

They wouldn't be asked. The EU can legislate in the name of a common market and any law or regulation that doesn't conform can be challenged.

There are certain cases that - isn't allowed in though, like git branch -d.

The git example break away from how I use git immediately. I've been burned enough times by stash to not ever use it anymore - just create a new branch immediately.

Could just be really old gnome installation and higher poll rate than normal. There used to be issues there..

If nothing else random mutations will likely break it. But it would reaquire it pretty fast given selection pressure again.

So am I blind or does it not mention the results? Was the result a faster kernel? How big was the difference?

There is a special hell for people that care about their jobs. Unfortunately we create that hell ourselves.

Yes. I'd much rather work with developers that know how to untangle and fix spaghetti, than those that have their hands held so steady by the environment that when the spaghetti does show up they don't know how to get out of it.

Go is not a low-level systems language, but it is a low-level web site builder language.

It is definitely not a given you lose FPS on Linux. It is not uncommon for games to give better FPS on Linux. It will all end up depending on the exact games you want to play.

Hmm. Even with the fix it didn't look very smooth even if it is a lot better. I wonder if that is due to the recording, or due to the mouse settings (mouse poll rate and acceleration settings are very impactful on smoothness), due to X

If it were starting to show up in languages though, then that would make it more likely for hardware to start introducing functionality like this.

No. Language designers need to think about what their language promises and when some users have differing needs, they may need to fulfill those needs.

There has been a lot of talk of silos in the company I work for and the need to break them down. This looks like it could be a big part of why they have been so hard to tackle.

It is not about hardware, it is about some of the optimizations you can enable when assuming they can't happen. There are some mathematical identities that only work if you can assume they can't happen.

One thing I think would be nice for floating point numbers, is that I'd prefer if there were two separate types - one where NaN and the two infinites are allowed, and one where they are not allowed but instead emit an error. The former

MySQL used to have horrible and very unsafe defaults for new installations that persisted well after the introduction of InnoDB. Those went unfixed for a very long time.

In 2012 MySQL had several flavors of replications, each with its own very serious pitfalls that could introduce corruption or loss of data. I saw enough of MySQL replication issues in those days that I wouldn't want to use it. But sure

re cursors: There is a replacement/amendment protocol for cursor handling coming though I don't know the current status of it. It seemed a lot easier to work with for the vast majority of cases.
