Tangentially, I wonder how people mentally model "too-good-to-be-true"? "Everything is a tradeoff" is almost a core belief for me, but in the same time, in technology, the "too-good-to-be-true" events does turn

Refreshing take on "Follow your dreams"! It's quite surprising to me that this tired genre can still deliver something new.

If you read their case, it sure seems compelling. It seems like Lina Khan had to write down her CC on a piece of paper, questioned how they will store her info, and a week later promptly launch a CID once she went back to DC. The whole thin

Here is what you can do (from someone who tried many times to block their emails), write to privacy@nextdoor.com and request that all your data be deleted. As someone who recently had to implement delete requests at a startup, I can tell yo

Great parody. It is sad that this has become the most effective way to remove the homeless, and funny that it struck some sort of balance that our liberal standard tolerates.

I liked this new media outlet and they put out some interesting pieces, but headlines like this are a pretty good data point to the contrary.

These industries just have a different mechanism, here is an example: the worlds 10,000th best tennis player probably makes $0 dollar from tennis, and the world's top 0.1% of pharmacists make maybe twice as much as the 50th percentile.

I never worked in search, curious what are the technical difficulties of implementing a YouTube-style "Don't Recommend This Channel" are? From the outset, the YouTube recommendation can be an offline process, and much easier

Feels weird to read about Dali in such context. As a 90s kid who grew up reading Mr Jin Yong's books, and the only thing I know about Dali is 六脉神剑

I'd somewhat hesitate to give out credit like that. It's more of that China kicked out Google, thus freeing Google to "stand up" to the CCP. I would love to see more of an example where a company had a lot on the line an

Yeah like other comments have said - agreements with venues. In the real world, it is still relatively easy to control the supply, especially given there are so few big venues and only a number of big artists that can fill those venues.

This is actually pretty awesome! I think the ranking algo is doing a pretty good job. I checked a few categories I follow closely, and the top results match pretty well with how I would personally rank them. And now I'm off to explore

Thanks! I'll have to check out "Clean Code in Python”. Packt books seem to have more quality variance in my experience, but perhaps this is one of the good ones. Glad that this is on Oreilly so I can read a few chapters first.
