We don't actually use phabricator for code review yet :) It just replaced RT and bugzilla (and hopefully mingle). Gerrit migration happening over the next few months, pending community consultation.

Ah, apologies. Misread. Still could be better, though - with a reset link that then creates a new password.

By 'retrieve all the data' do you mean I'll have to write a script that goes through the API, iterates over things, and dumps it into a format I would like? Or is there a single 'dump' API endpoint that gives me all

I'm always wary of email/spam solutions that require 'payment' of some form. See https://craphound.com/spamsolutions.txt for a lot of reasons (in particular, Unpopularity of weird new taxes, Public reluc

Have you tried out the new app? It uses the exact same styles as Mobile Web, and should allow you to scroll. This is the new native app we released a month or so ago - the older one wasn't as good :) (One of the app devs)

Would be harder to parse than JSON, I'd think. Also much more unambiguous with JSON. I do think writeability would be improved by using YAML, though.

Pretty neat! Might be nice to add YAML as a format too, since it's easier to write by hand than JSON. Might submit a patch at some point soon :)

I tried it a few months ago. Was sadly very very laggy and buggy (Android N4). Ratings on play store don't look too good either.

Just the samples were moved to CC, which makes more sense. Code still is 3 clause BSD, and always has been.

I would hardly call the current Wikipedia app 'best' - it is rather quite terrible. I'd know, since I wrote most of it :) We're rewriting it all to be completely native now. Edit: Link to the new source: http:/

#wikipedia-en is a channel where english wikipedia editors and admins hang out, and it is fun watching their discussions. #wikimedia-dev is where most of Mediawiki development happens these days, so that is nice too. #wikimedia-opearations

5s startup time for a web framework seems rather high. I wonder how well it compares to similar frameworks in other languages (Django? ASP.NET MVC?)

A permissive license is the only one iOS apps can be released under. GPL and the App Store don't go well together (see https://www.fsf.org/news/2010-05-app-store-compliance )

There's gerrit.wikimedia.org, and it is mirrored to github.com/wikimedia. Not sure how you can get a sense of how plausible a self hosted veresion of this is from that though :) The mediawiki.org page you linked is the best resource for tha

MediaWiki (+ a finely tuned PHP system, because mediawiki is unusably slow without it), MySQL, and plenty of time / resources for doing the large import of enwiki (since that is what most people are interested in).
