Then what is the engine of evolution? This is a point that I see repeatedly glossed over. First it's random mutation. Then random mutation is mostly bad. So, then the secret is natural selection. But what is natural selection? Is

If evolution is successful because it is unguided, then by guiding evolution we negate what got us here in the first place. On the other hand, if evolution is successful because it is guided by a supreme mind, then our physical properties a

Currently reading Blind Watchmaker. Dawkins repeatedly says the most important thing about evolution is that it is unguided. Then he proceeds to demonstrate how evolution works with a guided computer simulation. I think I'm missing

What about self identifying as a 20 year old? Not entirely facetious, I saw someone in Europe took such a case to court, so he could self indentify as younger on dating apps.

I have taken both IQ and SAT tests, and the sorts of questions are very similar. I am doubtful there is no significant correlation. The GRE, on the other hand, is more busywork and knowledge based than IQ insight based, in my experience.

I did the same thing with the GRE many years later. Jumped something like 80 points with a book of Kaplan practice tests. Maybe I got lucky twice :)

Well, does IQ matter for academia? Some latent ability to think quickly matters. That's the point of the SAT.

I've wondered whether we should see more experimentation in the OS space. Why should Windows, Linux and Unix monopolize everything? Also, with FPGAs, maybe we should see more OS HW level experimentation.
