fwupd and Windows Update both use the same underlying packaging mechanism for shipping firmware updates. All my comments apply equally to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/b... :)

Well, that's good news at least. But still, 7 years from consultation to passage through parliament is far too long!

QR code menus are crap and I prefer not to use them. You know what's even more crap? Waiting for the bill after eating. Let me pay my bill by scanning the table's QR code in my own time!

Wow, "first consulted on in 2016" Funny how the Tories can push through sweeping changes to our constitution in a single night, while bills like this take... 7 years just to reach their second reading in the commons. https:/

If I set my piece of crap Hotpoint oven to 230 C then it will eat to 260. So thermostat inaccuracy also has to be considered!

Dumb question but after doing that how do you go back to telling podman to use your local machine?

I suppose it would be nice if podman.socket was enabled by default. Socket activation means that it wouldn't actaully launch podman-system-service unless something connected to it. For me the problem with podman-compose is that it will

These days Podman implements the docker API, so it's easier to use docker-compose. I am not sure if there's any compelling reason to use podman-compose any more.

This would make sense if all Raptor Lake CPUs were renumbered like this but most seem to use the familiar 13nnn numbering scheme - it's just "Raptor Lake-P" that has lost a digit!

Same principle just with a different efficiency number. I doubt any but a fraction of combi boilers are 98% efficient: most people run them too hot, so they aren't able to recover sufficient energy to reach that goal. But in any case,

Some of that heat goes up the chimney. A good quality log burner, used correctly (and I believe that most people who use log burners have no effing clue how to do so ) is at best 60-80% efficient. Plus you have to account for the energy us

Where more than one product has the same name then both should be renamed. From that point onwards, they should never re-use an old name. Things would be so much less confusing.

ASN.1 is good though. What sucked was everyone implementing their own serde tooling. In another, better world we'd have consolidated around ASN.1 DER and not wasted all that time and energy with XML, JSON and so on.

FreeOTP supports backups itself these days. Backups can go to local or cloud storage. Backups are encrypted with a passphrase that you enter when you set the app up, so the cloud storage providers can't grab your keys.
