The article didn’t resonate with me at all either, but I think it’s mainly because I don’t fit into the collective “we” the author talks about. > We apply to hundreds of jobs. We swipe on hundreds if not thousands of people on dating app

As somebody who never had any issue with paypal, why is there so much hate about it? Are problems on the merchant side?

But they do have the opposite problem. Working on more than two documents at the same time is just not practical there.

Text editors like sublime have been auto saving unsaved files along with dirty flags to temp files for a long time. And sublime for example does not pester with dialogs on close (or at least it didn’t when I was using it) Most editors I use

I wonder if that will ever happen. IMO even if all ads went away, the freemium model where a couple of paying users bear the burden of supporting the developer wins in the end, due to the “natural” marketing of having lots of users. Now, th

Yeah I was surprised at first. Since I remember seeing the movie in a museum years ago. Watched it for 2 or 3 loops before reading the description explaining why any of the nonsense was happening :)

Maybe, but this will be very, very, very hard. I'd love to be able to make a paid-front app rather than freemium, but the current habits make that impossible unless you are an established brand or have a huge marketing budget.

If you read the post from the bottom you would start with: > I don't own any Apple products, and I don't endorse their labor practices, would you have stopped reading it because of anti-Apple bias?

It’s addressed in comments on the page. The author does not want to get sued by a large company over a chrome extension, not worth the risk.

I am always surprised when I hear about home schooling. When I was a kid it was a given that a school is mandatory. Parents worked, and also what qualifications do they have to teach? At least in early education, pedagogical knowledge is re

Seems to me that this would be true mostly the other way. $7k is a gigantic amount of money, most people would not let that slide.

Hm. Medium is just that, a medium. FWIW, it’s quite common to see a Medium blog reach the homepage of HN. I’ve never seen a LinkedIn post here though.

For me it was brushing up on the basics that helped (by following the theoretical classes). Both to be prepared for the interview and for general skill.

Everybody hates to be in front of an asshole no matter the context. Care to elaborate specific things you wish interviewers didn't do? Context: I do conduct a fair amount of technical interviews and it can be quite awkward to be in fro

Meh, I know it's a bummer and have had problems with this too. However, HDMI, DP, USB-A all have this problem to some extent. (E.g.: my graphics card does not work at-all (as in not even let the computer to boot) if an older HDMI cable

Did I read the thread incorrectly? From there it seems that OP has dated exactly one person out of the bunch, another one was a friend and the rest acquaintances or passersby?

To add on top of that. It’s really the accusers’ following that is important. The target may not even have a social media profile as long as they have some online identity to point to.

Articles like these make me feel better about never having read any of the 'how to code' books. Mainly substituting them by reading TheDailyWTF during the formative years.

Same with macOS for that matter. Still, it’s curious that Apple is quite behind other OSes concerning boot time. I almost never restart windows either, but when I need to (usually because waking up is still a hit or miss) it’s super fast.
