I got back on Facebook this year after taking a break for a while. Here's whats changed and what hasn't: - My attitude towards it changed. I no longer compare myself to how my friends are doing. This makes it a lot more fun to pos

Hey, you might even get away with asking for a free ticket! I remember walking in by mistake and an old lady on her way out promptly asked if we wanted to see it - she was very excited. I was just there to check out the theater itself. Five

So, it delivers a certain satisfaction when you drink it. Maybe there are other less sugary drinks that give you similar satisfaction - have you tried replacing the ice tea with say, cans of plain club soda? That's how I got off my swe

We weren't talking about HN. How many Indian newspapers report on every little nonsensical arrest that happens in the US?

I disagree. This story is far too insignificant for people who are nowhere near the incident to be alarmed about. We have a lot to think and worry about all the time much closer to our homes. Stories like this being reported by an outlet so

This reminds me of the time when my friends ran a fake contest on Facebook in the early days. Someone won. Then they told their local newspaper. Other small papers picked it up. Then it got picked up by bigger publications. Everyone treated

Awesome! Saves me time from clicking on the link and finding a paywall, or even hunting for the pertinent information :). [edit: should've at least given credit though].

I like it! :D. It reminds me of the time when the Simpsons visited Australia. That said, I belong to at least two cultures. In one of them being offensive is often punishable. In another, being offended is seen as a sign of weakness and imm

There are quite a few M's compared to regular BMWs. How many Polestars does Volvo sell compared to their regular models?

When Jira first came out, it was awesome. Way better than most other ticketing systems. It was soo good that the entire company that I worked for switched to it. Suddenly a phonecall from a customer could turn into a ticket created by the s

A fine example of segmentation. Most Volvo customers don't buy Volvos because they're fast cars. They buy them because they are safe cars.

Yes, couldn't agree more. It has a lot to do with what is enforced in America and Canada. Rather than trying to limit reckless, unpredictable driving on the aggressive end, and driving that impedes the flow of traffic on the conservati

It is an inability to set clear goals. Every time we have a proposal, everyone else jumps in with additional requirements and the project dies.

I suppose a divider with solar panels in it that also provide shade to driving cars would be out of the question.

Oh wow, more downvotes than I anticipated. Just to clarify, I'm not saying that the blame and hate are deserved. I was countering OP's point that people don't blame job-migrants for rising prices in California.

The mostly men who move to California for the tech jobs are called "tech-bros" and are hated on for various reasons and often blamed for inflated rents and the expensive housing market.

Yes. There's value in being able to change jobs as you see please. That value is about 1.3 to 1.5x of not having the freedom to do so.
