I know what this guy is trying to say about Apple, but it should be said that Linux isn't that way any more. Really the last time I installed a Linux distro on a laptop it went wonderfully. I'm not even a Linux fan boy. I'm

I know that we are all supposed to be "communism is teh bad", but the history of the Soviet Union is more complicated than just saying it was Communist, right? I'm actually kind of asking in hopes that someone who knows somet

It even has argument completion. That's really nice. I'm going to put this through its paces and see if its as good as it sounds.

I would say it needs to be more like BBC with a funding stream that isn't dependent on Government approval.

Trillions of dollars change hands every day in New York. How much should the infrastructure for a place like that cost?

Populism is always decried as unserious by media because they are biased towards status quo. FDR was elected four times being a democratic populist. EDIT: the paper does mention right wing populism specifically. It's dangerous because

Aristotle thought that democracy required some level of maintained equality to be stable. Madison thought that elites should run a democratic republic so that economic equality wasn't needed. We expanded the concept of who has franchis

Adding group SID's to an optional field in Kerberos was them using a standard to support their own system. It was never incompatible with MIT or Heimdal. Those systems didn't use the group information in the optional field, but yo

I normally like your comments. And, sorry, we don't all know that it isn't a magic bullet. Thus the people who seem personally invested in this stuff like its a conspiracy and the one true thing is being kept down by the man. Agai

I get that, but why couldn't you use something like GC for resource management. Maybe I sound stupid here, but it seems like the kind of task that machines would be better at than humans.

I don't mean to sound dense, but couldn't all resource management be automated to a large degree? It's not my area, so I am really asking, not trying to be a smart a .

Someone else mentioned it in another thread, but the propagation of issues related to code in unsafe regions to other sections of code that are nominally safe is an ongoing research area. It sounds really cool, though. Would love to hear mo

Looking forward to enough Rust adoption that people stop seeing it as a magic bullet. Once it's in large scale use and there are still errors that lead to security problems maybe people will get over themselves.

Again, it's not about the company owning the data. For instance, regulatory requirements might mean that someone comes to you and says...give me every interaction and related data that references this person who doesn't work here.
