A big one that's problematic is LastPass. It can hang the browser for a long time, 10+ seconds or so. Very annoying.

I thought it was UB to use < on pointers outside of the same block of memory. e.g. your function is fine if the answer is true, but UB if the answer is false. I could be misremembering though, but I do know I'd always cast to uintpt

Going to second the other comment, when you're rushed for time, you don't end up with "beautiful" code (But you should at least solve the problem). I know none of the code I've ever wrote for a job interview was ver

Extremely clever. Wouldn't this still violate W^X though? I would have thought the OS would see through a trick like this.

> One shouldn't have to enable filesystem-wide W|X just to run one application This is a very good point, and it seems like enabling it more granularly would be worth it. But, for your second point, I have trouble believing that swi

Rust is on my to-learn list (and I'll likely have to learn it for work anyway) but dear god what a horror. That is firmly in the same echelon as C++ template madness.

Sublime text's search needs work, but on a huge project you often need a dedicated search tool anyway (or plugin for one). IME the search isn't really what people complain about for atom's perf. Certainly isn't what keep

IMO what you want are curated views into open platforms. Some arbiter deciding what is/isn't acceptable for the platform is very far from ideal. Consider all the great games that have been prevented from going on iOS. Admittedly,

I'm not sure that being able to write a competing browser is a requirement for the platform to be open. Just that anybody can write and deploy code to it. (Full disclosure: I'm employed by Mozilla, but these opinions are entirely

I thought this too, but the fact that you can't send only a chunk of an array buffer is a huge limitation. It basically limits you do using a background thread to do something, instead of dividing the work among many (well, you can, bu

One reason might be that native app distribution platforms are getting progressively more closed, whereas the web is getting/remaining open.

Sadly, it looks very much like both Vulkan and DX12 are going the way of their predecessors. By which I mean tons of extensions, and nobody really thinks that they'll be able to avoid working around buggy games the same way previous dr

Regarding needing to implement a custom sync engine, what would you want that isn't provided by https://wiki.mozilla.org/WebExtensions/chrome.storage.sync ? Genuinely curious.

I'm not particularly in the loop on this, though I have talked about it (idley) with a member of TC39, but my understanding is that implementation difficulties are a big part of it. SpiderMonkey and Edge both are having difficulties im

It might be a terrible idea, but keep in mind that practically every development platform aside from the web is becoming more and more locked down as time passes (app stores, etc). Which sucks, obviously, but it's not surprising that

I wouldn't expect (commercial) games to use this, even indies. Gamers (on Windows) are extremely harsh if you ship a buggy product, and this tends to be what happens for most linux ports. Gamers on linux are more forgiving since it
