The event handlers are expected to be synchronous at the moment to ensure that they are executed in their desired order. The event execution is also handled transactionally so each run through the engine will block until it's complete.

The thing is that interop typically lives at the edges of the application where IO happens. I'm typically using a Js library to do Ajax, paint stuff on the screen, and so on. All the core logic of the application is written in pure Clo

My team has been working with ClojureScript for close to 5 years now, and we haven't had any of these problems. Promises work just fine, you don't need any additional support for them. For example, this works just fine: (def

That's just moving goalposts. The games showcased are the same complexity as plenty real world commercial games that are making good money in 2019. If you're doing triple-A game development, maybe you need to get down to the metal

It's not just my team, there are many of people working with Clojure and other functional languages out there, and there are plenty of FP projects in productions in pretty much every domain. Functional programming is weird in the same

I've been working with FP for around a decade now, and anything you can express in OO can be expressed with FP just as easily and often in a much simpler and more easily maintainable fashion. I copresented a talk on how my team uses FP

That's utter rubbish. My team has been working with Clojure for close to a decade now. We regularly hire coop students from university, and none of them have ever had problems learning functional programming. It typically takes around

The point here is that for many domains performance is not the top consideration. And it's also worth noting that it's perfectly possible to tune applications written in FP languages to get very good performance. It's also po

Yup, Ramsey gave a talk at Clojure/north [1] about Arcadia. I got a chance to briefly chat with him, and it looks like they actually managed to raise funding to develop it further. And somebody made Arcadia bindings for Godot [2], but

I find that I tend to do very little interop nowadays, and it predominantly happens at the edges with things like database drivers, and so on.

That's a false equivalence. Some languages make it much easier to create race conditions than others. For example, you have to work hard to avoid them in C, but you'd have to actually try to introduce them in Clojure.

I'd be shocked if something written in C that's as complex as the Linux kernel didn't have race conditions.

This whole American exceptionalism meme is getting pretty old now. US runs literal concentration camps for children, and you have torture camps on Cuban soil. People in Flint still don't have drinking water, more than half of Americans
