Weird, I have the opposite experience. Meet for years was much worse video/screen share resolution/latency/quality than Zoom or Gotomeeting. In fact it was so bad originally that a bunch of our team members requested we kee

I think you're imagining that this would be a good way to get a foot in the door, but many internship programs are more competitive than full time programs. Partly this is because they usually have limited spots. Another large componen

64 bit support has been around on the desktop for a decade at this point (Through OpenGL4 / GL_ARB_gpu_shader_fp64 / cl_khr_fp64). Unfortunately it is not exposed in Firefox or Chrome, even if the underlying hardware supports it.

If you don't mind me asking, How long does a CI run take for you? How do you manage running CI with so many merges? Our CI takes ~8 hours of machine/VM time, which is about 35 minutes of wall time with our current testing cluster

It needs to last much longer than 4x. Otherwise why not chose the 4x cheaper shirts and have more options for color and style? Plus you can buy the cheaper shirts over time, so you'll be more up-to-date on trends. Nevermind that chea

I don't think it's a lie, you've just misunderstood "Largest" to mean "Majority". The government is probably the largest individual shareholder, unless Reuters made a mistake.

I think the android bug linked in the article is much more informative than the article itself. Basically: 1) Android phones can already animate the screen @ 60 fps in software in most cases. 2) When they can't, it's not because the CPU is

There's a very good reason for medical insurance beyond catastrophic events. Preventative medicine is much, much cheaper. Insurance makes routine checkups cheap/free, which means they're more likely to be taken advantage of. Medicare has

My personal hope is that they'll do enough work to make the OpenGL Swing backend actually work. When our web browsers are starting to have credible 3D acceleration on our platforms... it's pretty unacceptable that the Swing OpenGL pipeline

The old backend was written with quartz, and hopelessly integrated into the OSX internals. It's part of the reason why Apple had to ship their own java. The new backend will only depend on OpenGL, which is much better for anyone who isn't

Great post. Companies making profit is generally good , because it grows possibilities for all. Granted, if they're doing it by exploiting consumers, that isn't true, but the author doesn't even consider that case.
