Well, it's a 700k interpreter and runtime. It isn't slow for simple things, but only because JS is really fast now. Interpreters are usually 5 to 10 times slower than whatever they are running in. http://hashcollision.org/whalesong/example

I was very disappointed by whalesong. Instead of a source->source translator like parenscript, whalesong generates a bytecode level VM inside the browser. Doing so provides support for any racket language, but it does so at the cost of

My assertion is that CoffeeScript is not an alternative syntax for JavaScript because of differences in scoping. My opinion is that this is not a good design choice because it increases the separation from the original language, requiring t

the difference between JavaScript and CoffeeScript with respect to the "var" keyword is neither subtle nor obvious, given that CoffeeScript does not have a var keyword. Great, then every variable in CoffeeScript must be global, because th

The goal of this diatribe appears to be to justify CoffeeScript's design, but to me it counts against it. To be fair, I have never thought CoffeeScript was worth using, but here's the crux: The pitch: "CoffeeScript is a better syntax for wr

Meh, put a date on it. If you asked this even a couple of years ago, fine. If you asked this last month, I have a pretty good feel for where you're at. You should also learn from your questions, which would make a great interview conversati

Free to play is the modern coin-op. Sure, it can ruin a game - anything can. Executed properly you'll find a mechanic of variable pricing based on a customer's interest in your product. If someone cares more, they (can) pay more. Who could
