I’m excited for the time when databases are built assuming that I/O is no longer the primary bound for distributed deploys, and multi-node by default deploys are a thing :)

Wow, this is absolutely amazing! I’m planning on using PostgreSQL at a deep level for YC Startup School, and I haven’t been able to find too many super in depth PostgreSQL resources for what I’m doing (looking at event generation, permissio

To an extent, this sounds terrifying. The first thing that jumped to my mind is that GPS be jammed or spoofed. In fact, the U.S. military in its shift away from COIN to great power competition in possibly highly contested environments is tr

Might be unpopular opinion, but I honestly think nuclear weapons are fine. Nuclear weapons are a 70 y/o technology, and I don't like my taxpayer dollars going to innovation in WMDs. Changing to something else would result in addit

Yeah...OP's comment doesn't make sense to me either. And frankly, MBS is far more powerful than Bezos is. It's a battle between a billionaire living amongst other billionaires in a republic, and a multi-trillionaire who'

I don't (or no longer) think it's great form to say negative things about former employers on the Internet, so allow me to expound on the positive aspects of my point. I think having great tooling / infrastructure at least gi

I wonder how much of this is due to safety, and if size expansion is due to safety, whether it’s a matter of trying to be in a bigger car than the other guy. Is there an ideal car size or will cars grow forever?

I wouldn’t disagree, and hopefully at 25 I’m still considered young. Get a FAANG job that pays well and executes well, then work your way into an elite tooling / infrastructure team. IMHO tooling / infrastructure is very clean in

Very much could be! Then again, I doubt Google would want to intentionally spin technical content for its own engineers, that might have implications for its own codebase, culture, and other deliverables.

As a SWE based out of D.C., I would be grateful if executive compensation is the biggest ethical issue for a company I worked for.

Google has this thing called “Testing on the Toilet” where they post factoids about Google’s codebase and best practices. I read one and it said FORTRAN is a highly secure language (or there haven’t been any security vulnerabilities found i

Whoops, confused Hajj with Arba’een. I did not know about the latter and I assumed that they were the same. Arba’een is much larger than the Hajj.

I mean, it’s not like I’ll be happy if the CDC and the federal government is unprepared and this becomes concerning and people die. If they’re prepared, then that’s good for everybody, and I am wishing the CDC success in its efforts to keep
