Hoping this lights a fire under other AWS wrappers like Heroku and Vercel to support IPv6. Currently dealing with the fallout of the Supabase IPv6 change and frustrated that two of my core vendors still don't support it.

They let us get our cash out within a few days IIRC, and we switched to a different bank (was right after we were acquired so kind of a different situation). I would say there's still a large gap in the market SVB filled but I am not u

They lied (or did not clearly inform their sales people) about their AWS credit promotion a few years ago which really annoyed me when they were trying to sell us. Went back to the safe embrace of SVB but I guess that didn't really pla

I used kdenlive recently and it worked very well! Clipchamp charges for 4K export which seriously annoys me given we all know that’s just arbitrary, but kdenlive handled it just fine and was actually faster to use anyways

Agreed. And to make such a seemingly big decision in a matter of a weekend. Respect for being decisive I guess but this seems impulsive and framing the secondary opportunity to conveniently fit the narrative instead of addressing the core i

It’s a lot of little things. Just yesterday I was on vanguard and a select box wouldn’t display at all on FF. You start to notice these rendering differences all over the place. Gone are the days a site just flat out won’t work unless it’s

It’s too bad that Firefox has such a great UX and privacy-focused cloud features like this, yet is being held back by its engine. As a heavy FF user for the last few years it’s become more and more clear that the world just doesn’t care abo

You can access the database from anywhere (client and server depending on your config). I use nextjs so many of my database calls are in Next serverless functions. However, I’ll probably explore moving some of that logic to supabase functio

This only seems plausible if most B2B YC companies in this set are still very early, because scaling B2B requires getting big companies to pay way more than a YC founder could ever stomach on a contractual basis.

It's a fair point. Want to note one thing I found strange: the city I sold in (very hot market) had 3%/3% as standard, and the one I bought in (less hot) had 2.4%/2.4% as standard (at least in the area I bought). I don't

Yes but from the perspective of the seller, the buyer's agent fee feels like you're subsidizing the realtor market to make it viable. Now, don't get me wrong, when I _bought_, I was very happy my agent made money, because she

I just sold a house in the US and the thought of listing it ourselves did cross my mind, but in the end we used an agent and they did _everything_ for us while I was out of the country, and got us a great price. In the end the amount of com

Makes you wonder then why it does so much, if those rarely used features increase the surface area of possible exploits? This is just a question I’ve had about *nix utilities in general, since sudo is hardly the only tool with obscure flags

And when you consider these voice assistants already feel at risk for further investment due to subpar results, it makes sense. Bit of a catch-22 though as many of us have given up on expecting much out of our existing ones

As a loom customer, color me very surprised. I did not expect it to have such a strong business since we generally just sporadically use it and it's a vitamin not a painkiller. Just goes to show how you can't accurately evaluate c

The second case isn't probably good for founders either. I don't think it would be easy to convince investors to let you take cash out of the business to any meaningful degree, but I suppose that depends on how much control you ha

Regardless of where you sit on the line between ambition and optimizing for founder outcomes, I think we can all agree first time founders aren't thinking about the math here enough and are far more susceptible to listening to what VCs

I was so inspired by FreeHand that I spent many of my formative programming years trying to build a clone in Java with the new (at the time) Java 2D APIs. I remember being blown away at things like anti-aliasing in FreeHand and then Java 2D

You’re being downvoted (clearly by multiple people) for having a valid opposing opinion in a subjective debate. Hate to see that kind of behavior on HN. Upvoted you to balance it out.

I was going to ask, when would you only rely on a sequential id for temporal locality, wouldn't most people be indexing and sorting on `created_at` or something equivalent?
