If you don't turn on your TV you should make sure you return your Comcast cable box because you're probably being charged at least $3/mo for it.

This is a lot like Google's auto-awesome videos they came out with last year. On New Year's Eve I got a push notification from Google+ on my Android phone that said something like "Happy New Year!" and when I touched it

Hmm. You've found one of OSM's many achille's heels. You're in a part of the world that doesn't have very good satellite imagery coverage, so the only way we can map is using recorded GPS data. You can help by wande

Can you give the search string you typed? As I mentioned elsewhere, geocoding is a hard problem, and we've certainly not solved it. We can make it better by improving the data, though. I'd love to make your search better next ti

No, they're adding their QC resources to OSM's existing 20k+ monthly active editors and not only improving the map for their own use, but for others as well.

Our existing geocoders don't do a great job (geocoding is a hard problem), and have an especially hard time at guessing containment in situations like you describe. One solution is to map your house using iD (the default editor when

Routing is provided by external tools like http://map.project-osrm.com and http://open.mapquest.com/ . On a mobile device you can use OsmAnd to navigate.

TeleNav sells navigations apps to smartphone users. They use OpenStreetMap data for some of those apps (and presumably want to use it in all their apps), so they're interested in seeing OSM prosper.

The point of OpenStreetMap is that we provide the data and you provide (or you use services that provide) an interpretation of the data that's useful to you. The rendering style you picked is certainly different than Google's. Map

Do you use a bluetooth keyboard? My wifi flakiness seems to be much less of a problem when my lid is open and I'm typing on the builtin keyboard than when the lid is closed and I'm using the Apple bluetooth keyboard. It's so

This, along with my wifi connection dying every hour or two (requiring a restart) makes me wish I had never upgraded to Mavericks. Link to wifi discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5535320

More than likely the roads were traced from satellite/aerial imagery and there's no source for road names. If you're in that area you might want to use the Edit button to add the road names (it's really really easy now).

Ever since the Telegarden [0] shut down I've had an idea like this in the back of my mind but not solid enough to give it a name or draw plans. I'm glad someone is making it happen! [0] http://www.usc.edu/dept/

Prior to the last half of August the OSM.org style had not been touched in several years. If you're seeing problems you should file a bug on the style's Github page: https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetm

Are you simply proxying the USPS API or are you making queries against data you purchased from them? If so, which data did you purchase?

Saying it's a result of a flaw in the Mercator projection is like saying zero being undefined is a flaw of the logarithm scale: it's not a flaw, it's a property. If the projection doesn't work for your usecase, don'
