We’ve been continuously hiring for this position as we’ve been building up our Windows browser team and have found the positions relatively difficult to fill.

We (at DuckDuckGo) shouldn’t have a lot of captchas and when we do (intended to keep away non-human traffic) they are completely anonymous, self-hosted, and not related to any AI or other machine learning. As such, I’d love to figure out wh

I also like traditional results, which is how I got into this in the first place (crawling myself). I meant the conversation right now is about AI-assisted answers, and just revised to make that more clear what I referring to. In any case

AI-assisted answers are completely optional on DuckDuckGo. Also, I have no problem with Kagi -- we are actually investors in it. The more competition in the search market, the better.

Yes, and to the point of some of these roles being open for a long time, that's because we keep hiring more people for them over time.

For clarity, we have not changed anything with regards to our vision and there is currently no commercial intent infused into Assist, which can also be turned off. That said, I'd love to follow up on this example -- which query in part

This (DuckDuckGo AI Chat) is currently separate from search results, and in any case we plan to offer settings to turn off any AI search integrations, similarly for how we do for instant answers and ads.

AI Chat is separate from the search engine, providing anonymous access to popular models. On the search engine we have DuckAssist, which is currently grounded in Wikipedia (more sources coming): https://duckduckgo.com/?q=wha

The plan is to maintain free anonymous access to base models, with eventually search better integrated as well. We'd also like to experiment with providing anonymous access to more cutting-edge models as part of Privacy Pro.
