I certainly haven't used it that much, but I never felt like the connection quality was a huge concern for a usable DE. It's something like 30 years old now isn't it?

Maybe I'm more set in my ways now, but I feel like distro hopping is largely a thing of the past. There used to be a ton of small distros with their own communities but they've pretty much disappeared. I don't know if it'

If they start doing security lines for passengers they'll destroy about the only nice thing Amtrak had going for it: being a basic travel option that doesn't involve too much trouble. It's already expensive, slow, and has lim

Ehh, I'd rather have an environmental catastrophe shelter. 140F outside? Hang out underground with a few months supply of food and water in your environmental bunker. Wildfires? Fireproof yourself and your family with a hyper-nano-pico

SSRI's didn't work too well for me, I ended up feeling like a zombie, personally. Wellbutrin (Bupropion; more of a mild stimulant) was alright for a little bit as a medium-term solution; I had a touch of anxiety for a week or two,

pwning the laptop was a req for doing school work, like how you essentially give prior consent to a field sobriety test when you get a drivers license. I'm not saying it's right, but that likely the school district's argument

As a longtime armchair attorney who has closely read summaries of cases like this on Slashdot for well over the past decade (IANAL, BTW)...you could go the lawyer route but this basically amounts to your kid being a minor in school which me

No way, cops can abide by the laws citizens lay out democratically. QI was basically magic'd out of the judiciary's dignified asshole with no basis at all in legislation. It's extra-legal thuggery.

I've been shouting into the void about this forever: get rid of qualified immunity and civil asset forfeiture laws. Last I heard, police have seized more property than was reported stolen for a long while now, and nobody can fight it b

I was thinking of his dad describing a giraffe to him from a book when he was really young, and then describing the length of its neck and how it would allow it to poke its head into his upstairs bedroom window. He said things like this put

Definitely not all women are chronic apologizers, but I can't think of ever meeting a chronicly apologetic man. I don't think parental norms and society, taken together, encourage it or even really allow it, at least in the West.
