Cost of living is an interesting comparison to invoke. For low, mid, high income households and individuals - per region - would the cost of living - in the UK - be higher or lower considering the same factors (income, region, family) of th

It's the usual responses isn't it: _'I'm saddened'_ or, _'what has happened to Britain'_. Had a look at America, Russia, or Belarus, etc.? Living in the UK is fantastic.

Yes. I agree with most, if not all of this. For instance, I am seeing folks either relying in the LLM as an _assumed_ expert or, assuming someone - who knows the structure of skill definitions - also has some expertise (in the area of the s

Wow. Wonderful post; best read this year so far. Lots of gold in this one. I like the way the author slowly undressed the - social media influenced - hype to reveal both Anthropic and Bun as they are: awfully basic

Genuinely surprised of the breath and level of interaction with this post. It would appear - perhaps we have data to back up? - a distinct _'flavour'_ of post are becomming dominant. A shame.

Very well articulated for sure. But, I do think the word _'expert'_ always tends to do a lot of heavy lifting. What looks like _'expertise'_ may actually be pattern recognition built through repeated practice. I do belie

If the systems invariants are well defined, and a suite of conformance + requirements tests (ensuring invariance is respected) are defined, wouldn't this be a broad - _'base case'_ - approach in general?

This is a lovely toy project. But please do not do this for real; imperfections - even minute imperfections - in data visualisations have consequences. 'Non-techy' people take for granted shapes and lines over numbers and sequence

That's an oppinion for sure, and a very shallow, general oppinion. Some people like solving problems, sometimes via code, while others tend to hide behind the 'Collaboration' banner, to help their own career progression. Both

It does have the feel of a tactical crouch and hold position by Amazon. AI / LLM for the masses is still just a bet, and perhaps an overly invested bet

Ideally, searching once for 'midjourney' would mean getting the url to directly access it time and again (and, create a bookmark). Perhaps the issue is more on the business model, rather than the effectivness of search offered by

I adore Benn Jordan, a refreshing voice in music and tech. I hope Google pay him a public apology. Ultimately, this is exactly how innocent, private people will have their reputations and lives wrecked by unregulated public-facing LLM text

I've come to the same conclusion myself in the past 2 months (possibly driven by the AI / LLM age making me think even more in version control... writing those words make me wince). I have a small webapp too, which hoovers up issu

That tutorial guy on YouTube, Derek Banas, swears by Anki. He's quite the voracious learner as well as being a pretty good contractor. I've used it myself (sparingly, when taking on new projects with new technology stacks), and ne

BFF pattern is very much misunderstood, and very much over-used IMHO Perhaps most useful - in highly distributed systems - I've seen is when we require some kind of flow orchestration, where we wouldn't like the orchestration logi

Quite an unreadable web page, and somehow rationalising there was 'everything before me', and 'everything after me' with regard technology and prediction. Unfortunate understanding of reality really.

'Going alone' on a method of measuremnt is questionable, especially for something so consequential as economics. Perhaps others - notably the UN, IMF - will follow suit. But, perhaps a new way to measure success for Labour - and
