This can't be overstated. Even if we got the general public to sort of understand PGP and PKI there is going to be a significant number of users that don't understand the difference between a password and a password protected key

All machines are ALSO not 64 bit and you have a trivially exploitable buffer overflow on 32 bit machines.

The thing I don't understand here... How you can you write a multitenant app where protecting an EAV store is a critical feature and not have tests that validate that your security still works that run before every deploy.

My read on this is that very few people involved in the conversation have a very good understanding of technology and gp's speculation matches my own understanding.

Media codecs are a little different because there is a significant cost to replacing hardware that only supports the old standard. It seems to me that AAC is becoming pretty ubiquitous and probably will be the go to standard for the next 10

look into gstreamer. The HLS segmenter is kind of crap, but will handle basic stuff with no problems. It has bindings for python among others. I'm working on a better one and hopefully I can convince my client to push it to up stream.

My view of what the industry was like 5 years ago, is that content creators only wanted to deal with small companies that they could control and that didn't have the bankroll to take it to the FCC. All of them were terrified of Google

Have you ever seen the jiter use SIMD? Having written some test code that was the simplest use case (multiply an array of floats by a float constant iirc) I have not. C# is a great language, but not for compute bound problems.
