Human beings often perceive patterns and deliberate action, where systemic explanations would suffice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apophenia A good example is popular discourse on 'elites'. You could percei

YC was a no-brainer value-add for us, even without this deal. It's still a no-brainer for any founder, regardless of batch size or remote vs in-person. This new deal simply cements that. Well done to the YC team.

'Poverty spec' is an old joke colloquialism usually associated with Luxury cars, specced to the minimum price. Using the phrase now in this context can feel jarring. I think taste and sensibilities have changed - lots of old jokes

Aside: I agree, but find phrases like 'poverty spec' a little distasteful. 'Low spec' is a pretty normal phrase that gets the point across.

Agreed - we're running an experiment on Zapier integration and the callout mucked up the header. It's since been amended. The homepage bears the scars of a lot of experiments. In pitches, I have had VCs complain about the website

I look at no-code as evolving to produce a high-level, (often visual) Domain Specific Language, with abstractions suited only to the problem domain. Excel is the archetypal success-story, perhaps. It is ill-suited as a general purpose pro

I really like your refined positioning and messaging. We were on the same YC cohort and I have to say, dendron didn't 'speak to me' during the batch. But looking at how you describe yourself now, I think 'yeah, I need th

The word organic has some limited legitimacy as description for farming methods. The word I find most troubling is 'natural', often used in the same marketing. All agricultural produce is the product of domestication of a wild pla

We were YC W21. Most of the value in YC comes from the network. We learn a lot from other founders, even if the industry is completely removed. Also, the batches are now large, but you're often grouped with similar companies during the

+1 for tasting history. The host was furloughed by the Disney Channel during COVID, so used his time to focus on his side project. An example of COVID's creative destruction.

When I see a number like $21 billion, I can't help but think of all the economic and social good from drugs being regulated, like Cannabis, Tobacco and Prostitution. That's a lot of taxation money lost, a lot of policing wasted, a

We use notion increasingly extensively, and also use G Suite. It's a strange beast - you think it's for note-taking, but it's capable of so much more. It doesn't try to do the abstractions of the office productivity suit

I agree, WhatsApp is (or was historically) a great product I got value from. Unfortunately I think Facebook's incentives will compromise the product's quality. It's why many move to signal and telegram.

I think most people's objections to Google and Amazon are macro objections to harm their business does to the world, not the individual consumer. I shop on Amazon like I eat steaks. I get individual value out of Amazon and the steak,

No code is moving into similar territory to programming languages, as each tool provides a DSL suited to particular problem domains and abstractions. Check out makerpad.co for some courses which amount to design patterns.
