That is how I always thought of it. Not being able to express one's self without copious amounts of explicit language thrown in just lessens any point the speaker was trying to make 99/100 times. We all have pet peeves that can turn us off

My elementary school (K to 5th grade) was 8:35am I think, middle school (6th-8th) was 9:05am and high school was 7:55am. Times were mostly stagnated though I think for the bus schedule. Certain AP courses (such as AP Chemistry) started an h

I don't think Google was overly happy with Samsung implementing the multi-app view on the Note 2 either, but there was not much they could do about it in the end. They had already told Cyanogenmod previously not to do this[1], so one can as

Forced registration to read it would be my guess. Nothing else against it really personally. Some people just don't like having to create an account to (passively) participate in a community. I read hacker news for well over a year before I

Correct, they're not exactly the same language, but C can be made to be compatible with C++ compilers (and is sometimes considered a subset of C++, though not exactly true). However, one wouldn't want to assume all bugs, quirks and syntax a

I disable it for sites that abuse javascript. I'm guessing I am not the only one that does. Probably quite a few people would do that outside of us developers if they knew they could (or knew the a site's major problem was derived from it).

It would be nice if we could at least undo downvotes if an undo for both is out of the question. I think everyone has accidentally clicked the wrong one at least once and downvote is the one that does the most damage.

I tried once more to get lambdas working, but at this point, I'm not sure if it's a bug in the JDK as it's still in beta or if it's Android. Log though for anyone who's less tired and curious: https://gist.github.com/b0d095fbd1ccd4b28fe8

Kotlin might have a better time on Android (though I too would prefer Scala), or at least better support. I haven't tried it yet on Android, but Jetbrains had a small tutorial for it on their blog[1]. I've just been putting it off since it

It's not really a feud thing, but they did go and use the now abandoned Apache Harmony code instead of just working with Apache on OpenJDK and working out an appropriate license for Java through them (and probably avoided the Oracle legal m

Sorry about burying the most important questions. I moved them to the top of the FAQ now :) I really wish Google would just make amends with the Apache Foundation and work with them on improving OpenJDK. It would be so much better for both

It's just speculation, but I think Google is pushing indirectly for more cloud based storage utilization and getting OEMs on board is a way to do that via shrinking storage size (it's a trait with many of the new phones on more than just Sa
