Fascinating article, I love compiler design. I wonder if code cache locality (of the interpreters) ever becomes and issue or is that level of concern irrelevant because that's ages away from being the bottleneck. What other issues (besides

This app has always made me feel a little stupid -- what's the use case? I get the SDK use cases (e.g., for a dieting app or a library cataloger), but is the main app a marketing vehicle for the SDK and a "check this out, gee whiz!" kind o

How is this possible? I was very impressed but could guess at how it worked with the first several answers/questions listed, but this one blew my mind: “Classic candy bar that’s a female Supreme Court justice” — “What is Baby Ruth Ginsburg

The problem I run I to is inconsistency. Some crosswalk buttons still matter and it's far easier to just hot them every time then to remember whether this one is still wired up. That sad, a cool experiment to do with kids would be to detec

Agreed. It will probably be what pushes various grandparents of my children into getting iphones (given that my partner and I have them). The reduced friction of it vs getting out the laptop, starting up skype or iChat, etc., is a huge

What I like about the thread is that it's a window into another world of geek humor whose countours I'm familiar with (they look a lot like the countours for cs humor) but whose specifics are largely unintelligible to me. Great read.

Does this mean YouTube's compression settings don't target a specific bit-rate but instead aim to make it "no larger than X and at least y% smaller" than what was uploaded? I'm surprised it's not just a pass-through at a certain point (if n
