Why 100 employees? Why 100mm turnover? What are all these random values about? Any science in it, or just a guess? There are and have been all kinds of stimulation policies in Europe. If you are looking for ideas, have a look at which of th

Nope. noreply is for all the auto responders to not litter your inbox. At the end or beginning of the email is the contact address. A human responder clicks it and replies.

LOL. Did "The Sun" hack into the vanityfair web site and placed this article or what happened?

Wow. In Europe we prefer to find the problem and solve it, discuss and communicate with each other, instead of shooting at people and hope they'll be too scared to continue rioting.

Greenpeace did that lots of times. They usually went straight to the roof of the company building and unrolled a large sign with their protest text ("{companyname} polutes {someplace} with {somesubstance}" etc. The beginnings of protests tr

This is a very good hack and also a reminder for Western countries and political actors that these kind of break-ins are not necessarily criminals acts but may be political demonstrations. If a break-in is non-destructive and has as motivat

Be faster than Chrom(ium) with regards to start up speed and JS execution. I abandoned FF after having used it since it was "Phoenix 0.1", because it had become slow and bloated, like NN had been before. Would love to switch back, but not i

Glad they finally copied Chromium. Would be great if they copied it too with regards to startup speed and JS execution speed.

The auditor was actually serious. Wow. I really thought he just wanted to check the reaction of the admin, to see if he'd actually hand over sensitive stuff.

That's probably the best advise. For backup, I trust rsync'ing encFS encrypted files to my server and to a external HDD.

Same here. I tried to buy am 50GB pack but they had problems accepting PayPal from Germany for some strange reason. They said, it was PayPals fault. Lucky me it didn't work, because it was impossible to sync my local files, they were "too m

Congrats MS-DOS! I may not remember correctly, but wasn't it that MS-DOS 4.0 was replaced by 4.01 two days later or so? Also, typo below the MS-DOS 2.0 picture: It should be 5 1/4" (the floppy with the half one was 3 1/2").

I disagree with the author. A DDOS is not necessarily a crime, same a blocking a road to hold a protest is not a crime, while "just blocking a road" is. The motives for doing so are much more important than the author recognizes. And the ha

The remote root login was my first thought too. Especially when I saw the sentence "... I'm pretty careful with machine security ...". What's bad about password auth if your password is strong enough?

Because "who has the longest" contests are... well, stupid. Seriously, why would you build the tower higher than needed, only to "edge out" some empty building in the Arabian desert? Aren't there... sorry "ain't there" more important things

Clearly not. 1) It would make sense if you see the world only as one big group (i.e. without any "circles"), like Facebook does. But having different levels an types of relationships is G+'s strong point. This totally contradicts this point

I read it when I opened my G+ account, and it sounded to me pretty much like Buzz all over again. Hope that gets fixed soon. Only because some guy you barely know made his way into one of your holiday photos, it doesn't mean you want to sha

That is actually one part I liked, especially the HTML. For bigger projects I would do the development of different parts of the app in different JS files and have a server side script combine them when requested from a web browser.

If it is so easy to break into the NATO network, then these "people on the ground" have been in real danger for a long time aleady. Because enemy gov't just may have had the idea of doing the break-on themselves, but without telling anybody

If a few kids with some SQL knowledge can breach NATO computers in a weekend, then who can't? Looks like any gov't with a intelligence service of more than 3 people has had access to secret NATO documents for a long time. That can't be good
