Same here. It'd be great to put up some HTML5 Geolocation as a choice for users to select (obviously, not requested by default, since that'd be an obtrusive behavior for a widget.)

Inertia; I initially built the API in PHP, but switched it to AppEngine when ProgrammableWeb listed it and people actually started using it. The front end uses the API though, and doesn't get enough traffic to justify worrying about scale.

You might want to read up on the developments of the last 24 hours. Santorum has gone from being a fringe minor candidate to being the last conservative standard bearer with a shot. It may be temporary, but he lost the Iowa caucus by 8 vote

At best, IP Geolocation will get you to a nearby city; it won't get you down to the neighborhood/block level reliably. Try HTML5 geolocation. The user has to give permission (through the browser), and its not universally supported, but, the

Where can I access the raw Israeli Census registry? I'm an non-resident Israeli citizen; I'm curious as to what it has on me (and if I can de-anonymize myself.)

I'm also anti-case, though my hubris resulted in this beauty: http://cl.ly/0y3b2K3l3E2m2n1A0L2l Ironically, breaking the screen only hardened my resolve to not use a case; why let the crack be in vain?

I don't think its a question of if poker is a skill; people, skilled or unskilled, can become dangerously addicted to poker and lose their shirts in the process. Most legitimate games of skill do not involve risking your livelihood to parti

Totally coincidentally, I was just working on a User Script that does this for all Hacker News posts; basically, puts the full, unqualified hostname in the parenthesis after the post. It's surprisingly simple. https://gist.github.com/15226

Is there an algorithmic reason this post isn't higher on the front page? It has more upvotes and is newer than everything but 1 or 2 things ahead of it. Here's a screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/397675/Screen%20Shot%202011-12-18%20...
