This isn’t off the shelf but you can rent enormous FPGA’s from amazon. You can dispatch ~6800 dsp slices at 500MHz for a hot ~1.7Tu32op/s. Each FPGA can have 4 DDR4 controllers for you to saturate with memory ops. You can cram ~800 vex

Where is that in the essay? It’s almost entirely not about compilation. I am still a bit confused about your original comment, the reason I asked for clarification was to see how it relates to the points the essay makes, and I still don’t s

Current HN is a mystery but you can look at Anarki, which descends from its implementation, or older version of Arc. Yes, files are named by id, the contents are a sexp encoding nested tables (so, lists of lists of … key value pairs) https

Lack of progress is a good reason to backtrack up the search tree. Which is exactly what we are seeing with alzheimer’s research. Amyloid hypothesis isn’t working, so backtrack. It’s a logical error to extend that to “give up”

I think GP is just confused and meant DMT. edit: for context it is short lasting and known as the “businessman’s trip” because it genuinely fits in a lunch break.

i realized with a jolt there is a mistake in this post. i accidentally took the co2 mass and not the appropriate atomic mass (and justified this internally by “well, and doesnt oxygen only have two protons?” no that’s helium). the appropria

It’s a good story from the perspective of a math-concept-struggler, but I don’t think linear algebra is that much of a step up. Fully formal linear algebra, maybe, but there’s a lot you can do with computer systems to sidestep some of the t
