You are only talking about the Go compiler from Google. GCC also supports Go (gccgo) and can call native libraries just like from C. I'm not saying there are no drawbacks in Go, just that I can't think of any advantages of C over

Go has many advantages over C that are not related to GC.

For a computer game, if you start out by allocating a large block of memory, then manage it yourself, I don't see how this would be a problem.

Interestingly, it's fully possible to disable the automatic garbage collection in Go to achieve this. Disable the garbage collector: debug.SetGCPercent(-1) Trigger garbage collection: runtime.GC() It is also possible to a

Cape Town has some areas that feel like an European town and some areas just filled with home-made sheds. I imagine that the crime rates are different in the places where there are actually cameras.

I would feel sad if I would have to go back to i3, though. The feeling of getting rid of X11 is very uplifting, to me.

Parametric polymorphism is a tool to solve real world issues with. It is not unthinkable that there could exist other programmatic tools that would be able to solve the same real world issues.

There is a mistake in the presentation. This compiles, even without a return after the if/else block. func comp(a, b int) int { if a < b { return -1 } else if a > b { return 1 } else { return 0

That's interesting. I guess the moral of the story is to never be discouraged by something already existing. There's always room for another twist, if well executed.

It's "usless use of cat". He/she should have gone: `grep arathorn users.txt | head -1` Instead of: `cat users.txt | grep arathorn | head -n1` Hackers these days.
