Well then what is the lower bound? The standard way to prove inequalities that should exist in a free market is through showing arbitrage patterns. This way one can prove f.eg. that a call option should never be more expensive than the unde

Unless you are talking about the embezzlement issue - i.e. employees pocketing single bills paid by the customers, which may get harder when you actually have to give back the change - your exercise has greatly outran my capabilities.

The title of the article you provided is completely incorrect. There is no change to DNA detected by these studies. What gets changes is the expression level of individual genes. Expression level can be changed by almost everything, as it i

Yes, and it is worth noting that telomeres, while technically being DNA, do not code any proteins. In fact their complexity is at a completely trivial level - just a repeated sequence of "TTAGGG". This is also the part of DNA that

Thanks for the lwn and cambridge links, they both look like a good read. Considering the big picture I feel like we need another Tony Hoare to show us good ways to reason about shared memory concurrent programs. CSP is cool, but at some poi

I would really love to see the x86 multi-core architecture spec'd like this. To this day I don't really understand all the details behind x86 concurrency: memory, fences, atomics, concurrent operations ordering, mutex implementati

You just have to override the new operator (C++) or use a different malloc (C). All you need is to replace brk() with an appropriate mmap(). Don't know how it goes for Rust. C++ is especially appealing, because you can embed file-backe
