Building an Android app with Sky is basically similar to using phonegap. i.e. You use HTML/CSS and web components, but it promises better performance and a more modern api. The codebase is a forked version of chromium, but with a lot o

The patent appears to be about selecting a network carrier using a bidding process. The device can choose a network based on price and quality of service. What prior art is there for this?

I thought Stream.expand(f) is flatMap. i.e. From docs: "Creates a new stream from this stream that converts each element into zero or more events." Stream.takeWhile(f) is takeUntil with the return value of the f argument negated.

Could you explain what you're missing from Rx that isn't already supported by Dart's core library. For example in Dart Iterables and Streams already have: where, skip, take, map, fold, reduce, expand (which is flatMap or mapc

Apparently the beta of Polymer, which should be out very soon, has huge performance improvements. Sounds like it is going to be very usable even in modern browsers, including mobile, without native shadow dom. Have a look at the 0.8 branch.

I don't hate Javascript, but I hate that I've have spent untold hours of my life on bugs that could instead have been immediately flagged by a static analyser, or been a runtime error at the source of the problem, instead of a wei

Isn't this problem inherent in the Soundscript type system, rather than a problem of the DOM? For example: class Node { ... } class FancyNode extends Node { ... } function createNode() : Node => new FancyNode(); function doStuff(Nod

Ah. Interfaces are structural. Didn't notice that first time through. Thanks for the pointer. JS cannot be replaced in the short term. However you can implement a VM (or mode) which supports only a subset of JS with some of the legacy

If you're right, and can land optional types and bignums soon, then Dart's semantics can become a subset of ECMAScript. At this point it's pretty easy to replace the Dart language in the VM to support the ECMAScript syntax su

I think your argument is clear - but I think you're also missing a point about another approach to evolving JS, and how development stacks such as Dart can fit into this. Bignums - ok - you claim that bignums could have made it into ES

I agree this needs to be fixed in JS. And I have been following the ES strawmen/proposals. Not sure if I like suffixes. The approach in Dart seems to work well too. In JS the overflow is often silent and is easy to miss. Since the Dart

I occasionaly read the esdiscuss list, and from those discussions, I get a sense that it is incredibly difficult to evolve JS given the legacy compatibility constraints. In my view having the Dart team trial new features in a new codebase w

I'm looking forward to having integers in Javascript. The dart2js numerics divergence isn't a problem in practice, as during testing/development the Dart VM is run with a flag which throws if an integer escapes the 2^53 safe

Most (all?) of the improvements listed in the document are already present in Dart. You can use them today. Good to see that these may also filter into JS in a few years time. Google is capable on working on improving JS and Dart simultaneo

I heard rumours that it was shut down because of license reasons. i.e. displaying the code to a user was making a copy in a legal sense, this has differing implications depending on the original software license.
