The best language seldom wins. External factors have a greater influence. Such as JavaScript being the only language available in the browser during the explosion of the web. It was not the best language but in ran in the best place.

I'm glad to read this. I'm new to FP and enjoying F#. Because it's terse and down to business. I've often wondered if I'm missing out by not using Haskell. It seems, for my purposes, probably not.

Does this indicate that we are adapted to living with these as part of our biome? So irradicating these parasites actually harmed us?

Specifically this is the error/result monad. This was the first description that made sense to me as a newbie to all of this. Monad was a scary word. This helped me understand.

There was an interesting tweet recently on doing this with a computation expression. https://twitter.com/ijrussell/status/1691752042539237413?s=2...

2 adults, 2 infants. 110 Sqr metres. 6 a day is on the high side. It's probably an overestimate. When there are no new borns we might dry 3 loads a week. But the house is a work in progress. The curtains blow on a windy day.

We use a califont gas hot water heater. So it's on demand, no storage tank.

No, I don't think so. I just want to keep my family warm and in clean clothes. We do need to get down to less freezers but we have some home kill that we need to get through first.

Three chest freezers, one fridge freezer, dryer goes five to six times a day, three heat pumps and two radiant electric heaters.

I have a 1910 villa and a Vietnamese wife with a new born. She has been here for 14 years but still likes it warm. I'm working on getting her to understand that we don't need to heat rooms we don't use. But $280 is cheaper th

Good to meet you. I'm in Palmy, (most average city in NZ). That is something I need to look into. I'm guessing now is a bad time to be looking for international work. It seems like the job market is not great internationally.

I think you could replace "psyop" with "marketing campaign" for most of the times the expression is used today.

I live in NZ. Hiring is not easy at the moment. Also our wages are low. Look at the current job postings. https://www.seek.co.nz/Software-Developer-jobs Then take into account that $1 NZD is equal to 0.59742741 US Dollars.

Yeah the .NET learning curve is steep. It's a little worse than some other languages out there. I found the same thing. I came from a Linux background, PHP, Perl and similar.

Yes you're right that they are a little behind. Currently on .Net 6. That is a shame as .Net 7 seems to have made significant improvements to performance. That said I don't think there are any features that I'm missing out on

I make web apps with the SAFE stack. Using idiomatic F#, the experience has been great. I can imagine that trying to translate C# to F# would be horrible. That is going against the grain. I'd encourage you to have a look at the SAFE st

Regarding the syntax complaints, this is because F# is functional first. Using mutable variables is hard while using immutable ones is easier.

The shell is where you put all your side effects. Things like user input or writing to files. That way you can use pure functions on the inside. Pure functions don't allow for side effects.

I see a big red flag. "Find a partner who can support me in my growth" What about your partner's growth? You need to build something new together, not just extend yourself. That is selfish and won't work long term.
