I'm confused here, Quill has a a very nice OT solution built-in to solve collaborative issue: https://github.com/quilljs/delta Why not leverage that solution than just saying OT is incorrect and roll out a rudim

I'm not sure AAA games have more depth and complexity. Usually, modern AAA games are just optimized for more polygons, yes there are minor outliers but I do believe business card games can have a fight in terms of complexity with a sig

Thanks for the explanation! One follow-up question is: how can we still call ignition an interpreter with this flow where TurboFan is still used to generate machine code? Doesn't that defunct the idea of an interpreter in v8, which is

Agreed, and I'm not saying duktape doesn't have a use case, I'm merely saying having a standalone ignition interpreter might enable different use cases.

Definitely agree duktape is a decent attempt at low memory situation, but one additional point is that duktape is very slow compared to modern JavaScript engines. Hence I wonder if we can split ignition off v8 to create a standalone fast Ja

Interestingly, the platform design of ProseMirror is one of the key reason which drives me to Quill in one of my side projects. Don't get me wrong, if your goals mostly align with ProseMirror, it's a perfect tool, but if you want

I'm in a similar situation: I used to use a 2016 macbook pro with touchbar, but couldn't tolerate more with it, so I switched to a 13' macbook air(while I can still buy this device) earlier this year. I couldn't be more

Just curious: other than established convention, is there anything that Sly/Slime provide that are still missing in Language Server Protocol( https://langserver.org/ )? Would it benefit more to move to a lsp-based soluti

I wish Microsoft could make a new edx course in their series covering TLA+. Those lectures are gonna be more helpful with exercises one can get his/her hands dirty.

Curious if we're gonna have a complete redesigned virtual machine without considering C-like conventions, how do you think we should do that? I've heard about alternative CPU architectures in the Lisp machine days that never gone

Personally I feel we might never get static typing for Ruby anytime soon, at least it won't be widely adopted in the community, so I'd settle on dynamic typing like this. After all, Crystal is already quite good as a Ruby+static t

Although this might not be a direct comparison, based on how things go in the Ruby community, personally I feel dry-types & dry-struct ( https://speakerdeck.com/flashgordon/typed-ruby ) might be a better solution for

Okay so I manage to complete the build, on idle this is about 80w, but notice I have a 1070 card, which costs around 37w according to nvidia-smi, so if you don't need a graphics card, I'd say 40w - 50w is more than enough in idle.

I couldn't agree with you more, I believe these days a developer can gain more with a Chromebook for portability, and a powerful desktop/cloud VM for the beefy tasks. You could end up paying the same (or even less) as a high end l

While the solution here works, the alternative is you can find a used Intel S2600CP from some random data center together with one or two E5 CPUs. You can get much more possibilities of upgrading the rig this way. I recently built such a PC

I wonder how easy it is to port all those libraries to mruby's mrbgems, so we can easily pack the Ruby-based CLI program as a single binary to get Go-like benefits.

I think the question here is not assuming everyone is offline. The real question we should be asking is: are there enough users having access to internet while they are coding. If the answer is yes, this kind of project will certainly be us

I don't like DOM, either. But whenever I see comments like this I want to ask: what do you propose as an alternative? WASM is more of a replacement for JS, DOM still requires a replacement if we hate it so much that we want to ditch it
