Since almost every dynamic language is at one time or the other compared to lisp or praised as lisp + syntax + better + ..., I don't think the view of the Factor community is important.

You seem to forget: The older you get, the more you forget. With ten, you know pretty well what you did last summer. With 80 you'd say: What summer? It's snowing outside.

The people I personally know use microwaves either for heating water or melting cheese or warming up meals from the day before. But then, if that's all people need, then maybe the iPad really is the right tool for them.

Such simplifications are always nice. After reading the explanations for the hand signs I don't know anymore where I live.

I'd say factor is to forth what clojure is to scheme: a modernized version (with a larger footprint).

tl;dr :-) But how should this solve the conflict of encryption/privacy vs caching?

It's quite interesting that the javascript-version got more spam than the simple AT/DOT one. That's surprising---at least to me it is.

I think their object model is a good example. Introduced OOP in version 4 but they implemented it in a way that was unusable. They put it right in version 5 but that broke older code -- and it was still weird. It was only in the latest rele

For describing a language, I'd use English if you want to reach an international audience. I don't think a language can claim to be faster than C. But a specific interpreter/compiler can claim to be faster than a specific C compiler.

Google does some automatic translation of common terms and provides an option to search for pages in different languages. If this feature improves, this advice could soon become obsolete. Anyway, one reason for using English versions is tha

So it's probably the data. In that other ranking the author mentions, Denkmark doesn't fare quite that well. Costa Rica on the other hand does well in both rankings. The maps are quite interesting though in that the continents mostly appear

The problem with arm-based linux systems is that it's not that easy for casual hackers to cross-compile programs but this is essential when using linux. So "normal" users who don't develop for that device and don't have the proper tool chai

Thanks for posting an abstract of the article's abstract. May I humbly ask if you could condense that a little further in order to reduce reading costs for those of us for who file almost anything longer than say 10 words under tl;dr

Most of this points (at least 1-3, I don't know about #4) are also true in other countries (like mine). So they are not reasons for why the US health care system is expensive but rather propaganda.

The precise semantics of ||= were subject to a longer discussion on ruby-talk. I don't think it's really that important whether it expands to 1.) a || a = b or 2.) a = a || b, is it? So all you would know about a person giving answer 1) is
