Are you sure you got the order right. The standard pyramide rather goes like: explain people how to do it, help them doing it, let them do it, let them explain to/tutor other peoples how to do it.

This point of view is also maintained by D Crockford[1] who is supposed to know JavaScript's background. [1] IIRC eg in this presentation: http://www.infoq.com/presentations/The-State-and-Future-of-J...

I haven't read the article after reading the comments. But this actually is a rather naive view on nutrition. Just recently I read that in ancient Egypt priests had the very same diseases we have because of the unhealthy food they ate. Suga

What's so bad about downvoting comments you disagree with? IMHO the problem rather is "kharma whoring", which is incited by the possibility of accumulating kharma. IMHO2 those points should be only relevant for sorting articles and comments

Which subclasses do you want to search through in JavaScript? That said to me lua seems a little bit like JavaScript's sane cousin.

With Groovy the boilerplate code "melts away" too. Most java code is valid groovy code, but not the other way around.

There is no need to make an internal encoding comply with utf8 or any standardized encoding since it is internal. The point is that the existing solution simply doesn't work out well. I personally won't upgrade to 1.9 if they don't fix that
