The problem is that if a user opens a word file and it is different in writer than it is in word (where they created it) they will not even take the time to notice the nice UI, they will dismiss writer entirely as unreliable.

If it was up to me, I would try to reach 99.999% compatibility with ms word first then do anything else. Both doc and docx formats. If people see that LibreOffice Writer is as good as MS Word, then they would migrate to it. Then funding w
