Quite fun. I was typing in the correct answer for the first puzzle, but with a "{ }" at the end and it marked me incorrect. Maybe pop up a warning to tell the user not to type braces?

Very nice, thanks for making this. I tried crazy workflows and the history tree had multiple levels. If possible, could you add scrolling to the visualization viewport?

What was the network utilization during the test? If these machines were lightly loaded (< 30% utilized) then the tail latency isn't surprising. :)

Neat visualization, but as the website itself notes at the bottom (in fine print): "Correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation. Be careful when using correlations to draw causal inferences for trading or research." Here&#

Maybe, but there is another, perhaps simpler hypothesis: Both the transistor count and life expectancy increase with time. One way to verify one or the other is to look at a linear hypothesis: States: LifeExp, Transistors, Time St

I have seen both ways (in computer science/systems). I buy the reasons SPJ says in the talk, but if the problem you are working on is too crowded that the first thing that comes to a reader's mind is -- "How is this differen

Thanks. I especially loved the story about the delayed-feedback-causing-oscillations issue. Is it possible to share some of the details of "postmortems" of large-scale systems in more detail? This would really help academics who

The limitation you see on the number of pps is mostly due to software and hardware artifacts. With careful tuning (interrupt affinities, etc.), or bypassing a bunch of software layering (e.g. Netmap), or special stacks (e.g. Intel DPDK) yo

I think the requirement on enormous computing power is exactly the point. Since not many have access to such computing power, Andrew Ng and folks at Google (incl. Jeff Dean!) built a large scale neural network system called DistBelief (nic

Thanks; the way of analysing data seems like an interesting view. I do understand the consistency tradeoffs between frameworks like Hadoop and that of a database, and that strong consistency guarantees are not required for many application
