The Mac mini from that time period is probably slow as a dog.. if you replace the hard drive with an SSD (super obnoxious to tear apart typically), it is more useable. Install Linux is a good idea on the Mac mini. My suggestion for MBP woul

Economists are for anything that says the free market solves the problem and governments are not the solution.. in this case, the main people who want to get rid of net neutrality are big corporations who want to charge people for the right

Anybody who can read the actual PDF -- is this at room temp and no large magnetic field? Those two things seem to be the big stumbling blocks for these types of quantum computers..

Yea I can agree that 100k is very much not what it used to be 10-15 years ago.. the main difference is that a “cheap house” in many areas that are doing economically well on the West Coast like Seattle, Portland, Bay Area, LA, are much more

Yea at startups you often have way more flexibility to grant larger options blocks or a bit more equity to rockstars to bring them in while the salary is closely eyed by the investors to keep burn rate low. So startup salaries are by defini

I think it’s great that the author did this as a learning experience. It seems like soldering on a few wires could have saved you like 3 weeks.. but anyway, the ESP8266 is a great platform. Super cheap, minimal components, easy to program,

So the basic premise of the article and this movement is that people assume that the default is for virtually everybody to be underpaid. So since there is obviously a Gaussian or poission distribution in salaries, then obviously some people

The smart thing that Intel is doing is making stuff that they know big cloud providers like AWS etc. will pay crazy amounts for and buy in huge volumes. The "use it as RAM" is incredibly valuable -- especially to bring down costs

In my experience most people at startups who leave end up not exercising their options due to the cost of exercising them coupled with the fact that they may be underpaid due to the assumption that their options may end up quite valuable. S
