I went to a concert last night and wore a T-shirt I made that said "Fuck Warner Bros." The band was j*Davey. Warner Bros signed them over fifteen years ago and then shoved them into a box. The show last night, fortunately for me,

I've been spending the last week casually looking at strudel.cc. They have a notation that looks similar (basically a JavaScript port of the Haskell version). I like this, but I'm curious why I would want to use this over strudel.

I'm really excited about Ghostty (and Zig mostly because of my exposure via ghostty). Until ghostty I hadn't really considered that a terminal would be a catalyst for innovation and even startups. But, libghostty is REALLY fascina

I 100% agree with everything you said. But, when I use open source, I assume user support == "me supporting it". That often means reading the docs, reviewing source code, (and lately, asking claude...) I'm just saying I want

Reading this article makes me want to point out the difference between commercial music software and open source software. What stands out here was that Eno used very simple sounds and looped them. This was not a complicated rube-goldberg m

The comments here make you think about whether this is an issue or not. But, regardless, I wish that Amazon execs were literally shackled to their data centers. If they move to avoid taxation, like when Bezos moved to Florida, at least they

Are you building MacOS apps? More specifically, are you doing code signing and notarization and stamping within CI? If so, is this written up somewhere? I really struggled with getting that working on GitLab. I did have it working, but was

That's so brilliant. Wow. I'm struggling to wrap my brain around how they not only support OCI (docker) but also APK (alpine) and APT (debian) packages. That's a very cool feature.

Wait, forgejo offers a built-in container registry? How does that work? I don't see that in the admin section at all.

I've been messing around with GitLab as a self hosted alternative for a few years. I do like it, but it is resource intensive! For the past few days I've been playing with Forgejo (from the Codeberg people). It is fantastic. The b

Did you make up A-Lot-AI? Can I suggest "A-Lott-a-AI"? If you did, this is the greatest thing created in 3 ABC ("After Bullshit ChatGPTification"; ChatGPT launched in 2022.). NB: Since ChatGPT is basically the new Messi

I can't for the life of me figure out who would fund this, other than Saudi oil money or Russian petro-oligarchs, both so they can whitewash or launder their cash. This just makes no sense to me otherwise.
