Fascinating to hear it put this way. If Trump were to rail against FEMA because it was a money laundering scheme for coastal property owners, he might have wider support, but would lose support of Floridians who want that money laundering.

I was a GAP employee long ago. That was a "good" job because I saw how the "Associate Managers" barely made more than me, the "Assistant Managers" were stuck at 30, so I spent my lunch hours reading computer sc

I don't see a mention of uv here. Since LLMs have made me so lazy that I never bother to search or read on my own, can someone tell me whether I can use uv as my project management tool with wasmer? What's the story here? I simply

I came here to say exactly this. It's excellent. I loved when he gave his kid $5k and hoped he would lose it and learn a lesson, but things didn't turn out as he expected. But, all the episodes are incredibly interesting.

Fascinating comment. I clicked that link and don't see anything in that readme regarding baseband. I'm very interested to understand more about that term. I was not aware that a SIM is actually executing code. I had to come back a

Ask HN: Can I use grapheneos or flx1 Linux phone to prevent cell tower hacking?

Are there ways to prevent this kind of thing using GrapheneOS or FLX1s? Lots of interesting discussions about cell phone networks lately. Fake cell phone towers ICE is using to track people: https://www.forbes.com/sites&#x2F

References to Norweigan, Irish and other cultures abound here. I am surprised Japanese is not referenced. It was excruciating and exhilarating to try to learn the subtleties of "iimawashi."

Are you writing up how you are doing this. I would be fascinated to learn more about how you use Anki and ChatGPT in concert to learn a language like Persian. Please do share more.

I like buying used. I feel better about that. Maybe that is misguided.

I'm excited about this. But it still seems like pixel hardware plus grapheneos is a better option? This is a question.

go2rtc (discussed in another thread here) works flawlessly with that c402. I'm blown away. Thanks for your comments.

by xrd 1y ago
Can I ask why you chose those? Go2rtc is working flawlessly now with these tapo cameras. Thanks so much. Incredible how easy it was. And integrated with frigate as well.

Fantastic. Why do you use rtsp for some streams and then tapo protocol for others? Are these all tapo cameras?

Are any of these outdoor cameras? Do you use rtsp if so? I'm trying to find an outdoor camera that supports frigate and surprised my new c402 does not.

Do you use an outdoor camera with this? I'm trying to find one and my c402 does not appear to have that support.

by xrd 1y ago
Does anyone have a good reference for which tapo cameras support rtsp? I have a c210 that works well (sort of, you can't use it with their cloud capture) and I have it working with frigate. But today I got a c402 (outdoor) thinking I c

That article you posted is terrific. I love the story of the "grandmother" in Cully Grove. Thank you for your work on this. You'll leave a great legacy in Oregon!

by xrd 1y ago
This happened in Oregon a few years ago: any cities with 25k or more people had to permit greater density. I'm optimistic about housing on the West Coast for the first time in a long, long time. This will transform things in a big way.

Good point, you could, for example, accuse someone of being equivalently dangerous, say in the MS-13 gang, illegally deport him without due process, and then hold up a doctored photo with those initials tattooed on his hands and insist he h
