The price of a stock doesn't matter. A company with 100'000 shares that are worth $100 isn't worth more than a company that has 10 million shares that are worth $1.

That is not what is happening in Switzerland. There isn't reallya reason why ot would play out differently in the USA. The beginning might be turbulent, but that should cha.ge after a few years

Concordance is more or less a consequence of referenda. An opposition party with enough support could force a referendum on every law. Giving them power prevents this tactic.

You know, the US is the only developed country where police officers that are called on an unarmed drunk person, end up killing him. You can find excuses for nearly every instance all day, but in the end you can't expect model behaviou

Police with bad training kill more and are killed more, not really a surprise there. A better trained police would reduce the number of violent encounters and be less likely to be killed in a violent encounter. I mean it is factor 40. This

So the taser is deadly? Why was it pulled in the first place? How many times can a taser be fired? Brooks is running away, are you seriously suggesting that he posed a serious thread to the officers? Nevertheless, the incident shows at best

Police killings in the US are around 40 times higher per capita than in the rest of the developed world. Murder Rate is also around 5 times higher than in the rest of the developed world. Clearly this are problems that needs to be addressed

Usually each party would provide a list with their preferred representatives that can be modified. Where I life, you can give up to 2 votes per representative. You don't need to choose 54 different politicians because "empty"

How hard would it be to change the congressional election system to proportional voting by party? In California you would vote for 53 representatives, each representative would be part of a party. First the seats are divided among all parti

I have seen that "infection level off after 10-20%" multiple times. It is simply not true. Some areas level off at 1-2%, some at 5%, 10, 20% or whatever else. It all depends on when strong social distancing measures were taken. Th

Wouldn't there be higher genetic diversity of the virus if this were the case? There doesn't seem to be any real evidence for this theory in the genetic data we have.

Seems highly unlikely, excess mortality is nearly 0.3% of NYC. You would need 150% of NYC to be infected to get to 0.2%. Many seroprevalence studies with prevalence >5% also show that the IFR is in the region of 1%.

Scientists and the WHO estimated the IFR to be around 1% in February. Most models that estimate fatalities use that number as well. That estimate has hardly changed.

Average life expectancy based on age and comorbidities of the people who die is around 10-13 years. That is not an insignificant lifetime reduction. 0.5%-2% of the people who get it, die. That is much worse than the flu that kills 0.04-0.1%

But it is more 5-40% of infected that don't show any symptoms. It is also not clear how infectious people that don't show symptoms are.
