Firstly, the salt should be changed per user , one of the reasons for salting is that given a large enough user base, a lot of users will choose the same password, and that can make the hash way less effective in obscuring the passwords if

The point is that you are not achieving much. You need both parties to know the nonce and the salt for this to work, so you’ll need to send it over. At this point what value are you gaining over just sending the password?

This sounds like a “follow your dream” pitch. Great for the survivors, bad for 99.99% that did not make it. I’d be curious to know how many people tried that got nothing for their effort.

AFAIK there isn’t a good reason to do that. To be useful the hash should turn your password into a OTP, at which point it’s no longer a hash

Maximum entropy is defined by the password, the hash can reduce it.

AFAIK, most companies weren’t even planning on using Huawei equipment, they used the threat to lower prices from other suppliers, and then those suppliers countered that by getting Huawei banned through lobbying.

I was commenting to the argument that college teaches nothing useful. Law and medicine are the poster child for credentialism, you are forced by law to complete the degree to work, even if most law and medical professionals will tell you, w

The whole EU grant process it’s a giant mess. I’ve seen job postings for developers where the most important required skill was knowing the grant process and how to write successful proposals (which is an art form itself). This has provided

The bigger problem from my experience is that there’s too much duplication of efforts because of how grant money is distributed. I think it would make a lot of sense to have some sort of voting system where institutions could propose and vo

I think part of it it’s the “build your design from blocks” mentality that is so dominant nowadays. There’s a lot of ways to do hard aesthetics, but pretty much one way to do kawaii (roundness, pastels, flat appearance). Joining kawaii-sh a

I pay 50% of my shitty income in taxes and then have to pay for health insurance on top of that because public health here is useless. Public health is not a panacea, although I’m happy for the people who get a good deal out of it.
