“They do not buy new cars” is a great way for car manufacturers to lobby for more benefits. Looking at sales numbers, “they don’t sell as much as they used to” is waaaay more accurate.

I didn’t imply that they made cars for poor people, I implied they don’t make cars for rich people. There’s a lot of people that are neither poor nor rich, that people keep thinking in those terms baffles me.

Exactly, you get rich by doing what the rich want, not what most people want, that’s why Lamborghini owns Volkswagen! Wait..

Why would you assume that I’m assuming everyone is evil? I’m just assuming that people generally follow incentives and thus averages will reflect them. If you need any evidence for “People follow incentives”, we have full branches of studie

Would you sacrifice all humanity for that knowledge? Since I’m guessing your answer is “no”, then there’s obviously a maximum price (even if my bound is ridiculously off)

I’m with you. Not only the job didn’t seem to match the prospect, the “large organization politics” drove me away pretty quickly.

Not necessarily. That the additional income is “nice” means that you personally think it has improved your wellbeing, not that it has. I might think that bacon makes me feel happier, until I need a bypass 10 years later.

My point is that reported data is generally very unreliable, since there’s all kind of incentives that bias the results. As for that generating happiness, think of drugs for instance, that you personally want them doesn’t mean they’re goo

Better reported wellbeing is not that important. I would also report being happy if I think saying the opposite could cost me this nice additional income.

I’m sorry but the “day-to-day doesn’t let me learn” always sounded like an excuse to me (not implying anything personal). It can be true for some time, but it’s always a temporal situation. Adquiring skills has pretty much nothing to do wit

How recent was that DDR3 design? Last time I checked length tunning on kicad was a nightmare to get to work properly. If they’ve improved it I might give it a chance

KiCad just drags stuff from very old days. The concept of having split tools for schematic and pcb just doesn’t cut it any more. Nowadays most companies have transitioned or are transitioning to do layout inhouse, because modern products ar

Alice and Bob just need to agree before hand on the proper distribution of 1s: Alice will set the combination 100 if she was assigned either the first or the second rows, and the 010 if she is assigned the last. Now Bob knows how to win if

The main problem with all this kind of testing is how little precision there is. “Double the energy limit” sounds a lot, but for a lot of these labs that’s inside of the error range of their equipment.

They mean that because that’s what they were designed to do. In big corporative networks it’s the non tech-savy users that are the weakest link in the chain, and TPM is a way to provide guarantees. One of the drivers of all this technology

I think F1 is a leading indicator here. At the beginning F1 was decided mostly by the pilots skills, then increasingly by training. Then technology took the spotlight and was the way to have an edge, and now finally it’s the best lawyering

A lot of embedded systems use file storage even while not having an OS. A very cheap way to add storage to low volume productions is to add a microSD card. At that point it’s easier to go for something like FAT and work with that
