It feels powerful. I think the effects in return types could be inferred. But I share the concerns of others about the downsides of dependency injection. And this is DI on steroids. For testing, I much prefer to “override” (mock) the single

But do the molecules really disperse like that? The molecules were all in Caesar's mouth before he released them in his last breath. Is the movement of molecules such that they are now, roughly 2000 years later, about equally spread ar

I agree the interior is nicer than the exterior. But it’s still dreary, in person, on a cloudy day. This style looks good in drawings, well lit and edited photos, but I think it’s a false/failed direction in living reality (specificall

Cursor has a free trial. Give it a try. AI is kinda personal, lots of people benefit, lots of people dislike it for many valid reasons. VS Code is very quickly catching up to Cursor as well (added tab-driven completions). Also you don’t hav

I have copilot turned off for markdown files. Cursor has this built in now. I’d never want AI to help write docs (except for narrow cases, repetitive references).

Which would be wonderful? (assuming all cars have similar tech at that point) Basically every street could be a shared space like Exhibition Road[0]. Making the city optimized for cars is a relatively recent development in the history of ci

You should try Convex. It’s a better, higher level abstraction than Supabase.

The runtime and static type of the template string is different to fstring (Template vs str). Unless you’re passing them somewhere that accepts strings, you can’t go wrong. I actually quite like the simplicity of this design over tagged lit

I’m traveling through Puerto Rico. On every nice beach, when there are people, they are playing loud music. Now that is part of the local culture. To me (a European), it is abhorent, ruining the supposedly relaxing atmosphere of a beach (ev

I've been using the rewritten coreutils as a reference in implementing human-utils[0]. The amount of complexity, even with pretty high-level Rust std, is still super high. So rewriting them in Rust is no small feat. For the file-system

Is there an implementation of the same capability as a JS lib? So that one could have an email server running as part of their Node.js / other runtime?

Saying something is “obvious” without specifying an audience is meaningless. (because obviousness is subjective and depends on the knowledge, experience, and context of the audience)

What is human is far from “natural” for our original ecosystem. A better argument for death would be if you think it’s important for a healthy human society.

What you need is a tree where the items can be in multiple places. Bear does this really well with its hierarchical tags. Most filesystems can do this with hardlinks (but the UX mostly sucks).

Good advice, and pretty standard setup I’d say, even for companies that are trying to build a community. The one thing I wonder about is whether younger generations will use mailing lists. I never did and I’m already in my mid-30s.

Have you ever had a creative feeling programming in a higher level language? Did you realize you were harnessing the power of the abstraction, “ripping it off”, without writing a line of assembly yourself? That said, the LLMs are weak right
